Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. NetherlandsI didn’t feel the hospitality and kindness that I have felt elsewhere all over Taiwan. But this was pretty much on the whole island. Early check in was just: no. I didn’t feel as if they even tried or looked - also something that is done elsewhere. Here policy is policy.

TaiwanSome things like booking scooters probably got lost in translation but communication to meet us from the ferry would have been helpful. I would stay upstairs next time as you can hear the toilet flushing from upstairs very loudly.
Great location, 5 min scooter to beauty beach, big shower, comfy bed, clean towels every day. They gave our dog a bed and were very helpful getting our bags back to the ferry port. Fabulous view of the sea and lovely lights and beanbags dotted around the place making it look very cosy.

The hotel itself was lovely. Rooms were clean and we loved the added extras of bubble bath ect. The kids loved the pool.

NetherlandsThe place was covered with selfie spots, which was funny but not my taste. This B&B doesn’t always serve breakfast (depending on the amount of guests?) so bring your own or walk 15 min / ride a motorcycle to town.
Very nice place on a cliff with ocean view. The rooms were super spacious and comfortable and the inner garden was a good place for our daughter to run around. The pool was nice and the English speaking girl was super helpful!

The staff at Xiao Liuqiu Mediterranean B & B are amazing and an asset for the hotel. They were very attentive to our needs and requests, from arranging the rental of a scooter, organizing snorkeling, and return to the ferry. The manager was very friendly and made good recommendations for restaurants and activities. The swimming pool was clean and well-maintained, the room had a great ocean view with a private balcony. Moreover, it was quiet. The cook-it-yourself barbecue buffet restaurant just a two minute walk up the street was fabulous.

We didn’t subscribe to breakfast so cannot comment on it. Location is great, about 15min walk from the pier. The BnB features a magnificent sea view that cannot be beaten. Staff is super friendly and helpful. Activities arranged with the BnB were worth the buck.

Hong KongWe (my wife and I) visit Liuqiao when it was very sunny and temperature was exceeding 33 degrees Celsius. We arrived the hotel at around 11am and we were sweating heavily. At such I asked whether we could check in early (to rest first instead of motorcycling under extreme heat). However, the staff only officially replied "check-in at 3pm" and kept selling tours. Since we booked the stay under booking.com, we have already arranged transportation (motorbike) and activities (SCUBA Diving) on our own. We did not join any of the tours. It appeared they were not happy (i.e. no commission). As a result, we were forced to start our tour under extreme heat. When we arrived at around 2:50pm and asked whether we could have our room, again, the staff replied "3pm" again......after waiting at lobby for more than 5 minutes, then 1 staff led me to our room (which had been prepared way earlier)...... Since I have had some SCUBA diving, when checking out, I was asking the details of snorkeling (i.e. don't want to go to the same dive site). The staff just insisted to help us to book but did not provide any further information - again they were highly eager to earn commission. When I arrived the snorkeling shop, the staff could tell us straight away - I was just wondering why he could not help me to ask first. Also, the hotel did not provide ice water under extreme heat - only very hot water and room temperature water. But no worries, their bureaucratic service could make you feel cold - they just want to earn more money from you.
Rooms are large (caution no sea view as advertised!) and clean

AustraliaStaff don’t reply to line for over 18hrs, even though it’s their preferred communication method and they’ve had 9 hours of business hours to do so. Absurd booking process. Have to pay a deposit via bank transfer, which is almost impossible as a tourist. Booked a 4 people family room. They tried to make me pay double because there was gonna be 3 of us, but they are still only offering the same room? Makes no sense. Says ferry tickets included but also made us pay extra for it (tips: it’s cheaper to book your own, they charged on top).
The stay was ok, if you can overcome the complicated and difficult booking process.

DenmarkGenerally, pretty dated property with very limited “standard hotel services” for a three star rating. We stayed there for 2 nights and both days they just left towels in a plastic bag outside the room on the porch. They asked us to leave our shoes outside and wear slippers, but that resulted in wet shoes when it rained overnight. (A shoe rack inside by the door would probably have been a better solution). They also asked us to choose a cleaning time, but never actually came to clean. Tea/coffee was not replenished (we had to go and request it after the first day) and no hand soap provided. The property also only accepts cash payment or advance bank transfer, which is a bit of a hassle. The property is called a B&B but didn’t actually include breakfast. Not good value for money.
Relatively quiet area if you are a light sleeper. The B&B is helpful with a map of the island and support for scooter rental, and has ample room for scooter parking outside the property. Good sea view from their small pool and the beds were fairly comfortable. Location relatively close to the ferry harbour (although a bit of a steep walk by foot).

TaiwanIn general it could use a bit more upkeep and a lick of paint around the place. I also think that for the price that breakfast should definitely be included rather than extra. The biggest problem was that the room didn’t feel like like it had been cleaned thoroughly. The bedding sheets and towels were all clean and fresh but the bath and the shower were definitely not cleaned properly before we got there and there were some hairs and also mildew in the bath and shower.
We enjoyed the large room with high ceilings. The bed was comfortable. The room was bright and airy and the spa bath was big enough to stretch out in and we are tall (around 6ft). The pool was quite small but lovely and we enjoyed using the sauna too. the staff were also very friendly and helpful.
