How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Breakfast was very basic
It was very clean and comfortable and the owner was really nice and accommodating. Breakfast options were ok.

I was surprised at how tastefully the room was decorated given its location. Grandma Yu is very personable and helpful with local recommendation. She gave us a coupon for about 35% discount with the boat tour. It also provides 35% discount for bike rental but we decided to use the "round the lake" bus instead. There were bottle waters and coffee provided in the room. The breakfast is about 10-minute walk from the hotel and it is takeout only. Overall, we really like this facility and highly recommend it.

Take-out breakfast from a small kiosk down the street. It was OK, but not up to Grandma's standards.
Comfortable, clean and spacious room. Friendly host (Grandma!) Convenient location, two minutes from Visitor Center.

Very convenient location. The room is clean and big. The breakfast, even you need to pick it outside the hotel, is really good.

This was an excellent really comfortable stay in the beautiful sun moon lake , everything about the seat was perfect , the room was big, spotlessly clean , amazing shower bathroom, massive comfortable big bed, all linens clean and fresh , great breakfast from down the road in the morning , discounted bike hire from lovely guy a few doors down to cycle the excellent path around the stunning lake and finally the owner is so lovely and helpful and communicates well via translate app. If you are coming here this is a must stay.

You can hear the traffic as it is on the main road but it's ok if you go to bed early and wake up early like anyone else in the area 😉

Stayed here for one night. Fantastic location, the owner was very kind and friendly. Would recommend renting the E bikes in town and cycle around the lake. This was the best accomodation we had in Taiwan. Super clean, would stay again.

The only minor thing that could be improved is that we found the bed and pillows a bit hard, that really depends on everyone's tastes and might be cultural.
Well located, a couple minutes walk from the bus to/from Taipei and Taichung. Close enough to the pier to go there in a few minutes walk-in, far enough to avoid the noise. House and room are very nice and furnished with great taste, as on pictures. Landlady was very helpful despite the language difference. It's a great place to visit the Sun Moon lake.

Have to walk stairs to my room which is on the 2nd floor if you have big luggages then it’s tough but we decided to leave the big luggage downstairs and just pick up what we need, the grandma is ok we leave the luggage down.
The room is nice and ok size, clean and everything you need for a hotel room, parking available since we drive the location for us is ok, breakfast is not bad but you have to go along the street to a local shop opposite the 7 eleven store.

Great location with free parking about 20m down the street. Grandma was very friendly, she also provided us with a discount voucher to a bicycle rental shop nearby. Room is clean and comfortable

+ The owner is very nice. Even if she cannot speak English, she was very welcoming and was also nice meet her at the entrance. Communication with translator worked perfectly + Excellent position + The room was gorgeous, wooden floor, big and clean. Hairdryer in the room. Solid big bed . Very nice shower + Excellent breakfast + The overall structure is furnished with taste, beautiful + Very professional, the owner knows how to do this job. I give 10/10. I cannot find any defect.
