Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

JapanMilk served at breakfast was not as thick as the last time. Breakfast didn't start at 7am but started at 8am.
The breakfast was gorgeous as the last time, freshly brewed coffee, organic vegetables, cakes etc. Internet service improved. The room was upgraded and had a nice view of town.

FranceThe staff is very friendly and helpful. The food at the restaurant is excellent. The bar/restaurant is full most days but never closes very late during the week and the music is never too loud so the nights are quiet. The bed is very comfortable. There is a nice little shop at the location with a variety of locally made products and food and an amazing shopkeeper.

United Kingdom*There is no safe in the room *There is no fridge in the room *There is no furniture in the room, you keep most of your clothes in the suitcase *Breakfast is gone by 9am then you need to ask staff to make more *Hot chocolate and African spiced tea are not part of the breakfast offer, kids want hot chocolate *Guests can work in the restaurant area all day long which is upsetting, you see individuals with 2 laptops and 2 phones sitting at tables that would accommodate 4 people
*Rooms have been refurbished recently *Location is very ideal *Sitting room is comfy *You have a Queen size poster bed in the room

UgandaOk, the wifi is sometimes not 100%, though I have to say this is equally a probelem elsewhere in Kampala, especially when its raining
Everything about this hotel is fantastic. It is exceedingly well run, with a great menu, good food (very good breakfast), good space to work, welcoming, friendly and helpful staff and I was delighted with my room.

South AfricaCleanliness - cushions in breakfast area full of marks - you felt that you did not want to sit and eat there. Cupboard shelves that were dilapidated. Unfortunately, there was a lot of noise due to the building going on. There was no working desk in the room, but that is not major. There was no hair dryer in the room, which is fine but it should be noted in the booking site. I also expected a safe in the room.
The breakfast was good. It compared very good with any of the other establishment I previously visited.

United StatesOur room had serious mildew problems. It would have been better to lock the room until they had fixed the problem than to allow guests to pay (which they forced in advance, unlike 99% of other hotels). For a few extra dollars they hoped that some guests would put up with the bad smell, but in the long run they lost money, because they sacrificed their Name and quality. It is an example of bad ownership and poor management. After we complained, they changed to a room without mildew.
The breakfast, dining room, and service staff were very good.

Czech RepublicMy room wasn’t like any of those in the photos. It was a small, very provisional, absolutely tiny room with an old wardrobe, random chair covered with some dusty old fabric, a random piece of table. Not much light. Bed sheets had two holes. Fab was extremely loud, and the speed couldn’t be adjusted. It was broken. The pillows smelled strongly - not the cover, but the filling. It was clear many people sweat into it. Both days, I’d go for breakfast around 9.30 (it ends at 10) since I was really tired from trekking in Western Uganda. There was no food left - let’s say 3 last lousy pieces of grilled veggies, no pancakes etc. One day, I asked for pancakes since the breakfast time wasn’t over yet, and there was this kind manager who asked the kitchen. But instead if plain breakfast pancakes, they made me the pancakes from the menu, so I had to pay a full price for that meal 😕 scrambled eggs took 15 minutes to make, even when there were no other guests and the egg person was there. I felt all the staff was always bothered, and I always had to look for them, ask them for a plate, ask them for utensils, ask them for tissues. I felt overall very uncomfortable. I hope the manager works with the staff and makes people feel more welcome. And fix that little room a above the stairs.
The manager was kind.

SloveniaMaybe we were missing another power socket (there was just one, inconveniently located next to the window).
Very nice place at a great location. Staff was very friendly and adjustable (we had an early 6 am a la carte breakfast), they also gave us a free breakfast with our early check in the first day. Room was clean and tidy. Restaurant was great, buffet breakfast was very good. Location is good in a safe area - you'll be using Uber to get around Kampala anyway so it doesn't really make much sense to be right in the centre of the city.
