Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNOTHING. People who are not used to the ways of sub-Saharan Africa may find service can be a little slow at times but relax and enjoy the experience. The staff are overworked. Soak up the peace and calm of the grounds.
This is the second time I have stayed at the hotel. Once again it surprised me by by the oasis of calm and quiet in which it resides in a city which you can only describe as manic and a cacophony of noise. The staff work so hard to make your stay enjoyable and it is a great advertisement for Uganda. Sadly when you leave the confine of their grounds your senses are bombarded from every side. I never normally write reviews and having visited Uganda many times since 1991 this Kampala hotel stands head and shoulders above any other I have stayed at.

Breakfast was excellent, better than any I have had in Uganda in the 30+ plus years I have been going there. It was set in a very quiet location near the summit of one of Kampala's hills. The garden was an oasis of peace and relaxation, so quiet; no traffic sounds, no people noise. The staff were friendly and very attentive to my needs. It was perfect.

United KingdomI had an awful experience with Pangolin Nest. When I arrived, there was an issue with my room : the AC was not working and the door did not lock from the inside, meaning anybody could just get in. This felt very unsafe as a solo female traveller (especially as the hotel was completely empty). I was moved to another room, but there as well the A/C was not working. The receptionist replaced the batteries and insisted that it works, but it was just blowing really hot air. The food menu was also very basic and unhealthy food. After waiting for a while to see if the A/C worked, I decided to leave and find another accomodation. When I took my bags back to reception to wait for my taxi, the manager showed up and was very upset that I am leaving. She was reprimanding the receptionist and complaining that she did not want to lose a client, being very insistant that I have to stay. I asked for a refund, she refused to give me cash and said she would do a bank transfer. This was a month ago, and despite many emails and promises that they will pay me back I have not received a refund. This is not a serious business.

United KingdomIt’s was a little difficult to find the property on day of arrival - need better sign posting.
Location - we felt like we were at one with nature. Also as we had occupied majority of the rooms there it felt like the whole place was like our own. Breakfast - was brilliant especially as they had a good variety of food to cater for us vegetarians.

NamibiaAfter arriving back to the hotel at 10:30 at night I went to my room to take a shower. In the shower I saw a figure looking though my closed window from outside (the window was somewhat frosted). After 2 seconds to comprehend what was happening I shouted and saw the figure duck and move out of sight. I got out and got dressed and went to address the ‘manager’ who had reviewed us earlier. When I got to the house he was slow to respond and reacted strangely. Coming outside he was said he was in disbelief and after a moment called the guard. There was no urgency. The guard finally came down, they called the dogs (they had 2 Dobermans I hadn’t seen before which came up). The guard didn’t speak English but after some talking I finally insisted they go and check around my room. At this stage my colleague came out as well from his room and asked what was happening.y colleague noticed cctv cameras and we immediately thought we could resolve it by checking them. Then the manager told me he didn’t have access to the footage, that it went straight to the owner. I asked him for the owners number which he said he didn’t have on him. He said he was going to get it but just went out of sight around the corner and went on his phone. I insisted to see where the cameras where and he showed us only different cameras facing away / on other areas of the property. My colleague finally saw a camera directly facing the area inform of my bathroom. Finally the managed gave me the number of the boss (which he could now apparently produce from his phone). I messaged the owner asking to resolve this and for the cctv to be checked and shared but my WhatsApp didn’t go through until the next day. The following morning the owner replied that he had investigated and that the manager had been checking that the windows were closed for mosquitoes. He wouldn’t provide the footage, never came to discuss with me or even called me to hear what happened. I was truly shocked.
There are lots of good reviews which highlight the obvious features of the place.
