Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

MalaysiaDays before my check-in, I was already in contact with Ms Lan & Ms Karathy about my stay to which they confirmed. On the day of my arrival, I had informed in advance of my late check-in and estimated arrival time. To my shock & disappointment, 15-20 minutes before my arrival, around 21:00 I received a text from the hotel informing me they couldn't provide me the room citing poor room conditions. Which is absurd since I had booked the room in advance. The following events didn't help either:- 1. It was weekend night, most hotels are fully booked; 2. They attempted to place me at some "sister" hotel or another hotel at the last minute; 3. The hotel they finally placed me was way smaller in size. I was too tired and frustrated to argue; 4. They attempted to force me to cancel the booking from my end when in fact it was the hotel who couldn't provide me the room. 5. They inform booking.com I was a no show. You'll notice this is NOT a remote incident from other guest's review. Avoid this place.

ReunionBUT !! I have order an executive suite including a spa / terrasse / bbq ect. The hotel is located in the beer street and there is no insonorisation between the street and the executive suite. It is REALLY impossible to sleep in this room. The room does not match the photo. I never had terrasse or BBQ (just two king size). I would not recommand this hotel
+ : very good reception at the hotel, very good advices to visit the city (thank you Jay). The breakfast is good and the hotel is well located.

NetherlandsBecause of the nearby bars you can experience noise nuisance.
The staff is very friendly and helpful. We asked the stafmember Jay if he could recommend a trip to Sapa and Ha Giang. Instead of just telling us what to do he arranged everything for us; from the transfer to the nightbus till the accommodations (and so forth). During our trip to Sapa and Hia Gang he kept in touch with us to check if everything was going well. The hotel has a central location, but because of the nearby bars you could’ve trouble sleeping.

United KingdomI booked a room at Hanoi Silk hotel center but when we arrive at around 10-11 pm at night, the hotel staff informs us that they have no rooms and that the room advertised is under maintenance, hence they make us wait and move us to a different hotel at a much smaller and underrated and under standard room that toilet could not flush, air condition is in poor condition, the plumber and builder keep coming to the room many times in the morning 8 am just to fix the toilet while I and my children were sleeping. Apparently, there is not even a hotel staff coming to apologize and explain to us but only one hotel cleaner keeps coming to the room. I was so shocked and surprised hence I contact the hotline number to ask for the manager's number, as well as speak to the receptionist for the manager's contact. When we come back, the manager talked to us, his name is Mr. Tam. he is professional and nice and apologised to us for what happened. Long story short, I explain that regardless of the situation, if you cannot provide the room advertised then please don't take the booking then move the customer to a different hotel under standard conditions. Please note we are a family with children and luggage so the whole situation is such a disaster. I ask to be moved to where we booked the room originally on booking because we would like to stay another day. Finally, we can have a room at hanoi silk with clean and up to standard. The service here is good and much better than the other place. The only thing that I was not happy with is as I mentioned above.

New ZealandI needed to cash out as my bank card expired and could only do bank transfers online. The hotel staff accepted bank transfer as a payment but unfortunately could not cash out at all. Even just 1 million. They said "ask someone on the streets." Shower head in my room was really bad and not dispersing water evenly, also took 5+mins to get hot water. The hotel was under construction so no breakfast when I was there The taxi to the airport they offered was quite overpriced. I managed to get a 200k taxi from the spa I went to (Mido spa, I rate it, they offer free taxi to couples). They don't offer postal service. Bed was a spring bed. There was a fire in a nearby hotel the day I was meant to check out. The fire trucks blocked the street for a while and there was quite a bit of smoke so I tried taking a longer route around. Spoke to the staff about it but they were still like 70k per hour for late check out. They will ask to rate them highly.
Great location, not too loud despite being super near beer street. Decent size room and decor. Staff spoke english and were friendly and polite.

NetherlandsThe hotel has no own food and drinks available. I suggested place 1 or 2 vending machines for small snacks and drinks and it is super We extended the stay there for 5 nights more but we did regret it. At the fist day i did make some comments on a not working lamp and a tap from the toilet douche not working properly. Even after 5 days the staff was not able to replace the lamp aside the bed. They claim have Tv with cable and disk but no even after the staff tried to fix it the manager came with the reason. The hotel is not connected to the TV cable service as has no disk to receive channels. The problem with the staf fis they try their best but there is a lack of enough people speaking english per shift. During day times there are about 4 bt in the evening from 18.00 till 8.00 there is no one capable to discuss in a good way. Also my wife as a vietnamese had some very bad experience with the staff. It is too far to accuse the staff directly but after a few days I am feeling the same idea my wife had with them. Can not trust them 100%, In the direct neighbourhood there are enough other hotels where we stayed afterwards with much better and more convenient service. The staff is totaly focussed on getting a good review in booking. But they realy not deserve it
The staff of the Hanoi silk hotel is specially great..Ms.Karathy Speak english and are very helpful. The rooms are clean. The beds are good. Located at a very traceable place from the small lake. Got lost myself send them a picture from my location and picked us up within 5 minutes no costs charged.

United KingdomThe hotel is still undergoing repairs post-covid. The rooms need a bit of an update with broken fixtures and the dining room is a building site. Felt the price was expensive given this. Due to repairs the hotel doesn't look like the photos.
Great staff, really friendly. Jay, Ms Karathy and Minh were very welcoming, helpful and attentive. They helped us to book taxis and trips out. Great location in centre of Hanoi. Hotel is on beer corner but our room was at the back so was very quiet in this great location.

United StatesThe hotel was under construction. Our room was upgraded because I book a tour but it still a terrible room. The fan was old. We were keep having issue. The room was not like the picture at all. The TV was missing a frame and they didn't replace it. The floor was cold and wasn't nothing like that picture. The bathroom was old. During shower the water stay and the shower head move. Therefore, we didn't think we will come back to this hotel.

United KingdomThe rooms were clean and well prepared but the overall quality was bad. Creaky floors, dated bathroom, slightly broken/wonky shelving. I did not complain to staff as it is not things they could fix, everything they can do was great, but the hotel needs an upgrade. Pictures are better than reality which is always disappointed, if they updated the pictures and my expectation was lower I probably would have been very happy
Staff were absolutely wonderful, they made the trip and are why the rating is higher. Rooms are large and beds are comfy, location is also great to see hanoi and staff very helpful.
