Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandNothing - everything was great.
The service was amazing. Great rooms and organised our Ha Giang loop tour for us in full. It also had a full restaurant on site which was great.

This Hostel and the staff are so helpful. I had an awful 2 am check in time.amd they were so helpful and even gave me a free night because it was my birthday. Their Ha giang loop easyrider experience was simply the best experience I've had in my life and our whole group felt their driver was super safe and well experienced. The rooms are lovely and comfy and great value.

FinlandOur cabin was great! Clean, lot of space, hot water and comfy bed. Totally worth for the money. Nearby some of local cheap restaurants. We ended up to stay one extra night cause we liked the place. Would recommend and stay again if ever visiting ha giang. Good place to meet other travellers. They had the cutest little dog, decent breakfast and you can refill your water bottle. Staff was really helpful, we didn't do the loop but the staff will organize that for you if needed

The owner (Bean) is such a nice guy. He made us feel welcome, helped us with booking a bus to Hanoi and even drove us to the bus stop. We really loved the vibe in the hostel, it has a lot of comfortable sofas and the cutest little dog. We would love to stay there again in summer when it is warm enough to swim in the pool.

FranceI booked a private room and the bathroom was very, very, dirty.
The owner or the receptionist speaks perfectly English. It’s the perfect place to meet other foreigners. The hostel is located far way to the city, but they take in charge transportation if necessary. I would definitely recommend their tours for the Ha Giang loop: we were just 8 people, the perfect number for introverts like me

AustraliaAbsolutely no negatives!
This was one of my favourite stays of our travels in Vietnam so far. The hostel itself was peaceful, quiet and in a really great location with mountain views in the background. Bean was incredibly helpful with organising transport to and from the hostel, as well as organising the ha giang loop bike tour. We were very fortunate to have really great drivers, felt very safe and comfortable with their riding and got along well with them despite the language barrier. They were all so friendly! Also Bong the dog was a cutie 😊

United StatesThe walls between rooms are thin, so if there are loud people, it is easy to hear everything. That was not much of an issue for while I was there
Good place to stay before and after the Ha Giang loop. It is not exactly in the city center, but it is not too far from it and it is easy to get a taxi to and from the place. The Staff is really helpful and provided a lot of information. They have a good restaurant with good food. The rooms are simple but comfortable. Ideal for a short stay

GermanyThe walls between the rooms are paper thin. So if the hostel is full it will be quite noisy at all times. The restaurant is not very great. I did the loop via ha giang hostel (they share together with lotus hotel). Generally, the loop is amazing - go for it! If you were my best friend, I would not recommend doing the tour with this organiser, though. While it was great that we were only 12 people and my easy-rider was great (thanks to On - super safe and chilled driver - unlike others I have witnessed), there were a few not so great points. Firstly, our guide switched after day one and the young dude doing the job afterwards didn't speak much English, blasted backstreet boys (or the like) from his bike all day long, didn't talk much to the group, mostly just walked ahead and left us quite often pretty much in the dark about what was going on. Missed some guiding ability here. Secondly, the accommodations weren't what I expected. Maybe called homestay, they were rather roadside motels in the middle of very noisy towns. Twice under construction. Apparently owned by relatives of some of the easy riders. That explained the really weird choices. Next time I would make sure to find out details about the accommodations. Especially travelling by bike, there would be lots of real homestays in natury places in the mountains. The same goes for the food. While you will read a lot about specialities of the local tribes, you will be served very monotonous food. While it's not bad and a lot of variety, it feels very little Vietnamese. More like a Chinese western adaptation. Breakfast always pancake with banana or toast with egg. (Better feed us pho!). Lunch and dinner will always be the same collection of springroll, chicken, pork, beef, one vegetable, one tofu, fried noodles and rice. Looking at the neighbouring tables of Vietnamese people eating, you will rather see soupy dishes and herbs...
The single best thing of staying at ha giang loop hostel is the amazing and super helpful service provided by Bean, who will be mostly at the reception or messaging you after your booking. He will go out of his way to help you with your stay or travels if you have done the loop with him. I stayed one night in a dorm. The beds were great and I really appreciate not having bunk beds there and only four beds per room. Filter water available - thanks for that :)
