Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWhile the hostel itself is very nice, there are some things that still need to be improved: - No free drinking water (this is a necessity in a country where you can't drink the tap water) - Breakfast only includes food (you have to buy coffee/drinks). Would expect at least instant coffee/tea. - No kitchen or fridge available. - Cleaners coming inside the room at 7.30am to clean while we are still sleeping. - Some of the staff didn't speak English well
- Spotlessly clean hotel and dorm rooms - Very comfortable beds with block out curtain - Large lockers in room that locks with the room card - Bathroom inside room with toiletries and towels provided (and multiple bathrooms outside on every floor). - Location was excellent and close to everything in the old quarter

PhilippinesNone really. This is one of the best hostels I've stayed in.
Location, facilities, and staff. The bed was super nice and the top bunk is easy to get to.

AustraliaI don’t like how they want to keep your passport during your stay as a deposit, seems unnecessary, and although they say they store them securely I often saw them just sitting on a desk. It was quite busy when I was there, and if your room is near the common area it can be quite noisy. Also the breakfast did not include a coffee which was disappointing.
Amazing location right in the midst of the old quarter. In walking distance to a lot of the main attractions. Little charm has everything you could need such as laundry, walking tours, transport options, which made my stay in Hanoi very convenient!

DenmarkThe hostel is in excellent condition, and the staff are very friendly and professional. Hai, the manager, was especially helpful—he even invited me for tea at a local spot and accompanied me to a tea store to guide me on what to buy. I highly recommend this place!

AustraliaSome small things like butter had to be paid for at breakfast. One evening I was asked to finish my dinner quickly because the kitchen was cleaning up, which I found a little rude, but I’d be pushed to find anything else I didn’t like!
So impeccably clean, fully functioning and comfortable bathrooms. Excellent location with friendly English speaking staff and lots of travellers from all over the world. The late lounge in the foyer is an excellent way to relax when you’re not quite ready to retire for the night, and the hostel even offers free beer and snacks! My banh mi bread was warm every morning at breakfast, and the prices for drinks, laundry and general services were reasonable. The tour organised for me to Ninh Binh was a highlight of my trip and was all organised through the hostel. I would 100% return and stay here if visiting Hanoi again.

GermanyGreat location, great and very helpful staff, quiet rooms, very clean, easy to talk to people in the outside sitting area, if you want to meet new people. If I ever return to Hanoi, I'll definitely stay there again. :) Thank you!

MalaysiaThe hostel is walkable to most of the places around Old Quarter. No need to take grab and you can save money. The toilet and bathroom are clean most of the time. Even the bedroom are clean as well. They even provide sleeper bus booking service to SAPA which cost 520k (RM90). Overall we had great time staying there.

United KingdomIf only you could stop other people snoring in the same room. Maybe the hostel could sell ear plugs?

United KingdomThe only one tiny little thing that I didn’t like was the bins in the bathrooms. Instead of swing lids, it would have been better with pedal bins, as bigger items can be placed in the bins without blocking the lid closing.
I had a lovely stay at Little Charm Hostel, as it is very cosy and clean. Staff were all very friendly. Particularly Emma Chu who helped organise both my Halong Bay and Ninh Binh tour. She provided excellent communication and service, which made everything easier as a solo traveler. Also being located in the old quarter, it made it easier to visit attractions by foot. Thank you for making my first visit in Vietnam a memorable one. I would definitely recommend this hostel to anyone who plan to visit Hanoi.

United KingdomI'm the worst person to rate a hostel as it was the first time I stayed in one plus it was only for 1 night however, apart from the shared bathroom situation and the fact that breakfast did not include any drinks (you had to pay for coffee/tea) I don't really have anything negative to say.
Again, I only stayed here for 1 night (I literally checked in, had a shower, went to bed and left in the morning) but my check-in was with no issues, the staff was friendly and the bed was comfortable. There is a pool which I didn't see or got to use due to my short stay but I suppose it's nice that there is one. The hostel is very central in the Old Quarter, close to the lake and is surrounded by all sorts of shops and restaurants.

United KingdomThe WiFi is quite bad! It would just cut out and you’d struggle to reconnect. Also you don’t get drinks included with your breakfast. Of course they aren’t expensive at all but little odd they aren’t included.
Nice hostel, in the middle of the old quarter! Breakfast included and free beer from 1800-1900 every night. The place was clean and comfortable, my bed was changed 3 times during my 4 night stay, which was very good for a hostel! I would stay again.

IrelandNot the hostels fault but the others in the dorm with us were very loud, coming in and out at all hours slamming doors. Maybe some signs up on the doors and corridors reminding people to be mindful of others sleeping.
Staff were helpful and friendly. Facilities were very good, location was great for walking around the old quarter. Reception can also help organise tours and transfers.
