Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomThe projector in our room didn’t seem to work properly and the room was quite cold.
The location was beautiful! Amongst the rice fields on the mountains, so serene and peaceful. We got our laundry done and it was great and the food in the restaurant was delicious.

United KingdomIt is quite far from Sa Pa and a taxi costs 250vnd each way so can get a bit expensive to get out and about. Be careful of the projectors, whilst a great idea, ours was very flimsy and broke with one touch.
The staff are very friendly and helpful. The room is lovely, very cosy and comfortable. The shower was good too. The breakfast and food in general is very tasty and reasonable cost. Was a very nice place to chill, especially as the weather was rubbish.

This place is amazing! We’ve been in Vietnam for a month and this has been our favourite place to stay. Dan and the team are so friendly. The rooms are so comfortable and beds are great. Bathrooms super modern. The views from the balcony are amazing! All the food was also really good, particularly loved the mango pancakes and lemongrass chicken

AustraliaWe booked a walking tour that was extremely expensive (even after discount). They charged us USD 129 ($43 each) to then find out we could’ve paid a TOTAL of $40 for the same experience. In local money thats a huge amount. I just hope the local guide gets a good part of that.
Even though it’s not close to the town center (you need taxi or motorbike). It is an excellent place if you are looking for a nice and quiet experience. The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. The lodge is super beautiful and comfortable.

LithuaniaIt was quite cold in the rooms, it’s only heated by an air-conditioning unit, but since the walls and roof are not well insulated, the heat doesn’t stay in. The location is remote and only reachable by private car (luckily we had a driver) or taxi. We hired a driver from these guys and it was a hit or miss (one driver (Huy) was great, one was good and one we didn’t feel safe with).
Sapaxa ecolodge is a lovely homestay, nice views (when it’s not foggy), friendly and attentive staff and comfortable beds. We got delicious free breakfast which was a surprise (we thought breakfast wasn’t includes). Location is remote, but we’re glad we stayed here rather than tourist-overrun Sa Pa town.

United KingdomAt breakfast the chef was coughing all the time which was pretty gross and not covering his mouth (but seems to be common in Vietnam). This place is probably beautiful in the summer but not really fit for purpose in the winter. One A/C heating unit by the front door which means the heat never makes it to the room and we were freezing. Hot water also ran out after 1 shower.
Nice location and Dan was helpful in arranging onward accommodation.

CanadaIt was very cold. The units were not insulated enough to keep the heat in. The heater work very well. When set at 30 Celsius itcould not warm up the room. It was like camping on Lake Superior Canada in August. I wore most of my clothes indoors.
Hospitality was excellent.

GermanyAs mentioned the rooms stay quite cold. Heating is with the A/C, set at 30 degrees it still doesn’t heat up the rooms during the day or night. Make sure to pack warm clothes for day- and nighttime.
Absolutely amazing staff, very friendly, we travelled with a baby and everybody was very attentive and cared for us. Sapa in winter is cold, so be ready for this. We got an extra heater due to the baby which was good, but pack warm clothes since the rooms do get cold at night (even during the day). But hot water, heating lamps in the shower, they try the best. Food and breakfast (1 of 6 options) is very good. The offer taxi service from/to Lao Cai, Sapa, etc. Can recommend it, I guess in summer it’s even better.
