Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

FranceI found a bed bug creeping on my sheet on day one. When I crushed it, it was full of my blood!... in the morning of day two, I found another one. I also found cockroach egg in my bed and on the floor. That wasn't very inviting. The bathroom was too small and poorly maintained. I mentioned the above to the Chinese receptionist who seemed very surprised. Whether they will do what it takes, to fumigate the mattress, remains to be seen. Bed bugs are a serious problem andf can be exported elsewhere in your own bag...
The room was spacious, the double bed was good, the kitchenette and the fridge were convenient, it was a quiet place, not far from supermarket 'Au Bon Marché Downtown' and near a Thaï restaurant...

New ZealandWe would have liked more than one bathroom for all the rooms to share and no teaspoons were available with the cups.
We were there for a few hours to sleep and left early the next morning, but the overall stay was good. We arrived after 6pm, and left again early the next morning 4:30am :-) a short stay

New CaledoniaPresented as "guest house" in booking page but just business of chinese owner for maximum money. Works same a youth hotel or hotel. No soul, no owner , no atmosphere. Just old house rebuilt to have more rooms (even on the first floor terrace). Many cockroaches to say welcome.
They have place for the same day I try to book. View doesn't exist from my room window. No food cooked or for sale.

ItalyA few things: - There are two (very cute) dogs that freely wander around the motel, which is completely fine, but they followed us when we wanted to go out, following us on the street. The gate can't be properly closed/locked, so they kept going out even when we were trying to lock them in. Fortunately the lady at the reception came at 7am and helped us with them. - Cockroaches in our rooms.
Good location, near the city center, as well as the view that could be seen from the motel. Staff was very friendly and helped us give directions, tips and other info about drivers etc.

CanadaThe night staff was distracted during my late arrival. The check-in was a bit long and confused.
The location is very good. They are open 24h, which is great for late arrivals into the country. Rooms are clean and the staff is helpful.

AustraliaIt was pretty grim besides the staff being pleasant. When we arrived in our room there were about 15 huge cockroaches all around the room and flying in from outside to the point that we changed rooms. Our new room did not have a bathroom (had to use very rudimentary shared bathroom) but at least had no cockroaches. This room was fine but it was incredibly tiny (could not open a suitcase). Also the hotel is quite loud and the curtain didn’t block light at all so woke up super early. We paid about $55 AUD for one night while we were waiting for our main accommodation so we were not expecting much but honestly with what we experienced I couldn’t even say it’s value for money. You can get so much better in Port Vila for a fraction more.
The staff were all very nice and helpful. When we asked to have our room changed they very quickly obliged and arranged for a new room in 5 min.

AustraliaIt was very very dirty, there were bugs, no hot water, had a bad smell, sheet had what appeared to be a dark blood stain on it, there was constant noise throughout the accommodation, people were coming and going 24 hours a day. I would never recommend this place to anybody. We left early. This stay really dampened our visit to Vanuatu, we will review places better because of this experience. Avoid this place at all costs.
Location only. I wish I had something nice to say about this place other than location but I don’t. The place needs a lot of work to even be habitable.

United KingdomON a comparable price level it was poor. It's how it was advertised versus what I got in reality that really annoyed me. I have stayed in much better hostels. The rooms had wafer thin walls and only a central light so either bright or nothing. I felt I was sleeping with the snoring man in my neighbouring room. The main external sign illuminated outside my room window (though part of it wasn't working) and the noise from traffic, music from the waterfront venues and what seemed like a taxi/bus stop outside the hotel was very loud an if I'd shut my windows I'd have had no air as the room was very stuffy which meant not smelling great. There was a plug in fan but the room was hotter than anywhere else. The kitchen wasn't an option for use given the lack of facilities and the pots were not clean to cook. The shower was OK but also a bit of a smell due to the open bin for non flushable waste. It is a shame as the venue has potential to be good with some simple honest information and a bit of basic work
Accommodation located in a great spot with a seaview just on the edge of the main town, Port Vila. Handy for vars, restaurants, access to the water and shops and not far from the airport. It's just up a hill so helps with the views. Staff members were friendly. Room felt secure.

AustraliaVery dirty, found a few bed bugs, there was mould in the bathroom. All the shared areas shown in photos with ‘views’ have been filled in with rooms. Not a lot of privacy with windows onto the walkway, noisy at night.
Wi-fi worked, hot water worked, walking distance to the centre of Vila.

AustraliaIt was incredibly loud all the time during the day, evening, or at night, I got woken up to very loud music playing at 3am. My door didn't lock properly, and I woke up to some random standing in my room. Not a fun experience, they moved me to a different room, but definitely didn't feel comfortable after that, if I had been staying in Vila longer than the night I probably would have gone to a different hotel.
It was in a good spot, and the room was nice enough. It had basic facilities.

United StatesThis place had terrible reviews so my expectations were low but I chose it for the price and the location. The owners are Chinese and speak minimal English so I had to communicate through the cleaning staff who, of course, were not able to deal with all my concerns. People were friendly but that didn't solve problems which varied from no toilet paper in the shared bathroom from 9pm till 8am, that my room wasn't cleaned before I checked in at 2pm, that the fridge in the shared "kitchen" didn't work, that there was no wifi. The shower/sink room absolutely stank although the rest of the place was clean. You must pay for the room in cash (I was out of local currency but they accepted US dollars). It's such a cheap, run down place that I met no other tourists, only locals and people in Vanuatu to work for short periods (so that made it interesting).
Location was great--just up the hill from the beach and a short walk into town. It was also just up the hill from Moorings Hotel where I had stayed earlier with a tour group so I knew I could hang out there and use their wifi because Room with a View had zero wifi.
