Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomReally wonderful location and staff!!! Right on the beach hearing the lapping of the waves. We kayaked to top rock, which was big but glorious. Three turtles and top rock is special. AustraliaThe boat house was fabulous, perfect for me as a single traveler & would have been romantic if my partner was able to join me on this trip. It is private but not secluded, which nice for me as I enjoyed meeting the friendly locals & staff. I received the compendium online, however I found the staff to be more helpful. *The only thing that would have made my food experience easier is if there was a Menu available in the room, of local foods to request delivered with a price guide & locally prepared meals available to order as well ask suggestions of what it's ok to ask staff for such as local massage, nite fishing, spear fishing, kayak tours, snorkelling tours, cave touring & local trekking around Undine Bay. *Peter the local grounds man, speaks good English, very friendly & harmless, helped me set Aerial Hammock in a tree so I could practice, hailed the local bus to town, brought me fresh coconuts daily he also gave me an island massage which was different, more therapeutic & reliving than relaxing, got the kink out of my neck, all for by donation. * the beautiful the manager Silvi, is an inspiration, her warm welcome on arrival made me feel very at home, she helped me with the Kayak & invited me to share Sunday lunch with her family & friends, which was a highlight of my stay. The island food I tried was delicious & I felt very at home & welcomed. The local kava hut called a Nukamal, run by Billy, Silvi's son, is a great place to enjoy drinking kava with locals, most people spoke English with me & I felt comfortable to toktok Bislama (local language) small small. I encourage any one visiting Vanuatu to try the local food, try the kava & have a go speaking the local language as well, it fun & will make all the difference to your adventure in paradise.

GermanyAbsolute superb place on the north coast of Efate. We tend to beat the crowds or go a bit of grid when traveling. So Whispering Palms just was the perfect place for us - staying in a beautiful accommodation, right on the edge to the ocean with pristine views made our day(s). Hermit crabs, riffs just of the beach and lots to explore when opening your eyes. Local staff like Peter and Silvie just adds absolute value. Could have stayed longer.

SlovakiaExcellent location right in front of the beach. The locals were really friendly. Amazing snorkelling spot, crystal clear and calm water, so you can just explore the coral reef from the kayak. Lots of turtles and fish. It's a quiet place with amazing views far away from busy Port Vila. The property comes with a fully equipped kitchen so we could prepare our own meals.

United KingdomIt would have been helpful to understand the public transport system beforehand or arrange transfer. That's on me though. I ended up hiring a car which was super useful when I visited because so many things are closed until June 2025 in the area. Complimentary shower gel or would have been handy. But generally I was most sad that I didn't get to spend more time there.
I don't think the pictures really did the property justice. Also, I was confused about how close all the properties were. There are 3 buildings, they are all detached from one another you just share a beach, but the beach is public anyway - people from the village and neighbouring properties walk past etc This side of the island is much quieter and people are more friendly and it's just a better vibe than Port Vila. I was sent a lot of info from the owner before my arrival and there was a handy guide about local things to do. One of the better wifi spots - it covers all 3 buildings down to the beach pretty much which was handy. There was selection of snorkels, shoes and flippers, paddleboard and kayaks. Loads of towels. The place just had a lot of bits and bobs around to make a trip more comfortable. So I was just able to relax. Views of sunrise and moonrise were just spectacular. Dolphins and horses pass by most days. Coral reef at the doorstep. It's just heavenly. If I ever return to Efate, this will be my go to accomodation.

AustraliaThe snorkelling masks provided are getting pretty old and tired. Fins however are fine. Bring your own mask ( I was glad I did) if you take your snorkelling seriously :) A simple map with the different recommended shops/ places to visit marked would be a really helpful addition to the house.
Absolutely beautiful "non-resort" way to see Vanuatu. Snorkelling off the beach is such a delight. Great staff and very helpful. Lovely peaceful location. We had a hire car but note there is option to have transport arranged there & back (40 min to Vila). There are only small villages nearby but these are fine to buy basics. We bought a lot of fruit from roadside stalls. We really like Top Rock (10min away) for snorkelling & simple lunch. Just be aware that there are large sections of the main road that are severely affected by potholes, particularly in and around Vila. Still driveable, but good to know. See photo below as an example! It was a wonderful week.

United KingdomSadly it was very windy when we were there and the beach has a lot of coral so bring rock shoes. No restaurants near by but that’s what we wanted
Thank you to silvi and staff for their amazing welcome excellent care and happiness. Our bungalow was amazing and had everything we needed. Exceptionally clean and well maintained. Beach as you step out of the room. Beautiful view. Very rural and no one about . Snorkelling gear and surf skis free. Near to flat rock. Amazing snorkelling. Loved our 4 days here. United StatesThe host was at the property upon our arrival. We were shown the facility and provided with all the instructions, etc. The staff treated our family like their own. We were provided with fresh bananas, coconuts and when the staff was working within the gardens, they would stop and play with our 18 month old. The property provides kayak, canoes, stand up paddle boards, as well as snorkling gear. We really enjoyed our stay and waking up to ocean views each morning.

Australia- Beware of strong winds directly facing the beach 🌀during SE trade wind season May to October! We only had 1 day out of 10 calm and pleasant, Undine bay is prone for winds compare to much more sheltered Havannah harbor. - Hot tip: if you have strong wind - directly opposite Pele island will be clam and much nicer beach. Drive to Emua wharf (10 min) and take local boat 6000VUV return + 1500 for adult for staying on the beach.
We stayed here in September with 2 kids 4 and 8 for 10 nights in Deluxe villa which is biggest of three. It is well maintained and comfortable for family of 4. The other two bungalows are much smaller. - Well maintained area with kayaks and snorkel kits provided. - Caretakers Silvie & John are wonderful, they looked after all our needs & super friendly, we took time to visit their village and our kids made friends with lots of friendly local kids! - Tip: Bring some toys and kids clothes to donate to the community which will be great help! - WiFi is fast enough, modem located in Deluxe villa which is convenient as we had to reset it a few times. - Shower is clean and ok, but do not expect high pressure and hot temps as its only small system with LPG bottle instant gas heater, it worked well for us. - Rental car is the MUST in this location. Its only 1,5 hr to get anywhere on the Efate loop road. - The snorkeling straight off the beach at WP is wonderful even on low tide with big living coral reef right there! Sunrise hrs is the best time as waves a bit more calm. This property itself is wonderful, safe for kids to roam around, nothing wrong with it at all.

GermanyOnly small things. There's no door to the bathroom, which I personally always find a bit weird. Also the internet didn't work for part of our stay. There were issues with Digicell so nothing they could have done about it but it's something to keep in mind for people planning to work while there. Lastly, it would be really helpful if some essentials (e.g., salt/pepper/some spices, coffee/tea) were provided.
Absolutely stunning location, right on the beach. The villas are nicely decorated and have everything you need. It's remote but not as remote as some of the other reviews say; there's a small shop in walking distance and a few restaurants you can reach within 15/20 mins of driving. Diving/snorkelling is super fun and there's kayaks you can use for free! Biggest selling point is the staff on-site - Peter, John, and especially Silvi are so lovely, really make you feel like family. We would definitely stay here again!

AustraliaThe property has three units, so they are close together. Layout means there is plenty of privacy in the units, but you can hear the other guests and you are sharing the beach.
Location was great, absolute beach front with a coral reef very close to the shore. The provided kyacks and snorkelling gear made it easy to explore. I onlyvstayed in one of the units (deuxe) but it was fantastic - clean, modern, private and in very good condition. The staff were very helpful and welcoming. I found its location away from the city, but only a 40min drive away was perfect. We rented a car, so we didn't have to use the local taxi.

AustraliaThe oven was dated but worked ok. It added to the charm of the place really.
You really can’t beat the location. It was private (only one other couple there with their child) and you have swimming/snorkelling/kayaking literally at your doorstep. Could not have asked for a better stay in Efate. Besides the incredible property (see photos) and highly functional amenities (wifi, fully equipped kitchen, snorkels, kayaks) which aren’t to be taken for granted in Vanuatu, the service and friendliness of staff/managers/neighbours was truly what set this stay apart. Communication is so prompt and comprehensive as well - you will have everything taken care of reliably and quickly! Regarding things to do, there are numerous attractions within 30min drive but the owners will send you a document that lays everything out in detail. Can’t recommend highly enough!!
