Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

New ZealandVery weird vibe. The American owner (son of the original owner) seems to have changed nothing since the 70s and is overcharging. No free wifi, dirty pool (get a vacuum pool cleaner and use it religiously daily). We too, have a salt water pool, but you still need chemicals and the water should be clean! There was algae in the pool. The staff need more training. It was disconcerting to find ground staff sitting around in guest seating during the day. Also, the security guard in reception literally stare at you when you go there. Quite discomforting when you’re paying through the nose.
Fantastic location. Great aspect, access to water and room.Nice restaurant food and fantastic fiafia (local traditional dancing and singing) night. Very clean rooms.

SwedenWe couldn't have found a better place to stay in Samoa than at Coconut. It is such a beautiful resort right on the Beach with a fabulous pool and poolbar overlooking the Ocean. The design of the resort is luxurious at the same time as it feels unique and genuine in the way that it has been built by honouring the natural materials of the area. Samoa is a hidden treasure full of culture and beautiful nature. We booked a few private tours through the hotel to explore the island and the driver/guide did a wonderful job. We had several meals at the restaurant overlooking the Ocean where we got to try different, delicious, local dishes and you could really feel the love from the Chef in the food. We loved Samoa and Coconut and the best part of our stay was all the local Staff that really opened their hearts and welcomed us in to their Coconut family 😊 They shared so much of their Samoan culture with us and for that we are forever grateful 🥰🙏 Suzanne and Anna from Melbourne.

New ZealandNothing.
Incredible location with local turtles on our beach, just outside our beach fale. Staff were so friendly and accomodating and helpful. Perfect location along the best coast (the south coast - best coast by far), good proximity to the other coastal drawcard like the giant clam swimming and the ocean trench. Ideal resort, no hesitation.

AustraliaThe aircon didn’t work, the room they placed me in was way at the back on my own in the tree house. Felt like I was staying/sleeping in a sauna and at times felt unsafe. Facilities are from the 80’s and needs a major upgrade, considering how expensive it was to stay at the resort not value for money. The menu lacked variety of food.
The bathroom and pillow were great! The bed and pool was average! The beach was absolutely stunning and lovely to chill in. The service from staff was fantastic except for one of the security guys whom didn’t get the hint I didn’t need his help into my room - abit scary esp at night time.

GermanyStunning resort, looks and feels like paradise, from our water bungalow we could see beautiful fish, starfish and turtles, very friendly staff, delicious food, comfortable bed, pillows were a little too thick for us so we got 3 smaller ones that instant, got a welcome cocktail in a coconut, an umbrella without even asking as it rained- everything was perfect!

AustraliaWe booked through Bookings.com and paid an amount for three people. When it came time to pay the bill we were charged extra as they said that there site only caters for two. I believe that this should be told before booking as we had a tight budget. We were charged an extra $216.00 American Dollars for our 15 yo son for three nights.
Staff were friendly place needs a little work. Food was nice

We loved our stay and we plan to return. The staff was uniformly outstanding in every way. They could not have been better. One person deserves special mention. Our waitress, Salia. We asked her for every meal when she was working. She really worked extra hard to meet our requests. She also must have thought she was back in school. We asked her every question we could think of about the surrounding areas and Samoa. We started saying “question” and she would reply “answer” and then proceed to give us the answer. We took up so much of her time we were afraid her supervisor would think she was not working, when she was doing exactly what she should have been doing-----giving her clients the best possible experience in every way! Whoever planned the resort deserves very strong credit. Rather than building the standard structures and dropping them into a beautiful environment, he brought the beautiful environment into the structures by building rooms and structures that blended with the environment I believe I saw the statement that instead of bringing the resort to Samoa he brings Samoa to the resort. And he does!! This is a resort for those who want to truly appreciate the beauty and culture of beautiful people living in a magnificent country.

AustraliaThe only constructive feedback that I'd provide is that the couch in my room was a little uncomfortable, but I just sat on the bed or the outdoor sun lounges. Honestly was not a big deal at all!
Coconuts Resort was phenomenal. The staff were welcoming and friendly, the view and beaches were stunning, the food here was divine and there was a wide array of things to do (snorkelling, kayaking, day tours etc). The rooms were clean, open and bright and was everything I hoped and more!

New ZealandThe property is very run down and seems like a once great property that hasn’t been maintained. The resort is very expensive for what it offers and unfortunately the overwater bungalows don’t have access to the water from the bungalow. There is very little vegan options and no mini bar or room service

New ZealandWe actually had a great time here and If it was half the price I would rate it quite highly... but unfortunately Coconuts falls short of expectations for a resort at this price point. The rooms and facilities are somewhat 'tired' and things in general are just a bit amateurish and rough around the edges for what is pitched as a premium resort. Following our stay here we stayed four nights at Amoa resort on Savai'i, which aside from not having the beachfront location bested it in almost every other regard and was less than half the price.

United StatesWe loved everything about it!
Amazing beaches, views, staff. The property is beautiful. The staff was so accommodating when we had to add another room the night we checked in, then we were able to move four of our party into the Villa Matai. Faafetai Lava Tala ma Lina for your assistance, also Fainuu (I hope I said his name correctly - he was the gentleman that met us the night we arrived) ma Okei for such friendly administrative help, especially Tony and his crew prepared delicious meals! We were there to connect with our ancestors, and Coconuts was the perfect place for us to relax and appreciate all that they sacrificed for us. Coconuts is part of the forever memories made of loved ones past; with loved ones present, for future loved ones.
