Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

South AfricaUnfortunately the roads are really not suitable for low cars. I have a Mercedes A class and although we drove extremely slowly, the bottom of my car often scratched which made the drive to and from the property both uncomfortable and stressful. It also made getting anywhere a lot longer than the specified time as one does not consider that this adds a bit of time to the journey. We also weren’t aware that this property does not have an inverter/generator and with loadshedding being at a high stage not having a fan/lights made the stay uncomfortable. We would have the fan on during the night and when the electricity would kick back in the lights in the room from the fan would turn on which would wake us and we battled to fall asleep again every time that happened. The signal in Hermanus is not great in many places including this property. One relies on WiFi connection for communication and the signal here for that too was extremely poor. We only had one bar at the best of times and had to be in a certain point of the room to pick it up. It would often drop and then we had nothing. My husband had important work he needed to complete and was unable to with the signal. We had to drive into Hermanus to get this and with the bumpy road out of the property and then the drop and goes into town, this really became a pain. After our stay, for us personally it would have been better for us to stay closer to town. I think it should be mentioned on the property page when booking that 1. A 4X4 or similar is recommended to come to this property in order to not damage your vehicle. Saying to drive slowly is unfortunately not sufficient 2. No invertor/generator during load shedding 3. Off grid and poor WiFi signal There are many people that would love this property if they are aware about these things as they would come with the correct car, and would come knowing they will be off the grid.
The property has beautiful views and the room is lovely and aesthetically appealing. The bed is comfortable. Tea and coffee station and bathroom amenities were nice. Sue was kind and attentive. We didn’t get a chance to try the hot tub however I’m sure it would have been a highlight within the scenic surroundings.

South AfricaOur room had no privacy so we were unable to open any of the shutters or the door as staff and the owners had to walk right past our door and window. Being a horse farm there was a huge problem with flies. We had a small room but I am sure the more private rooms and bungalows are lovely.

South AfricaBecause it's an equisterian farm there are quite a bit of flies, the farm does get humid at time and there wasn't any aircon. Also the gravel road in is a bit lengthy so we had to plan trips into Hermanus town.
Heaven on earth with the graceful horses at your side

South AfricaThe room was different from the photographs on booking.com The warm tub that is advertised as being on the deck of the unit was more public and away from the cottages. This was disappointing. It seems that there are only 3 or 4 of the units available advertised on the website - we stayed in rooms that were converted from one large house into self contained units. We had very little privacy at the room.
Location is good. Room was clean and comfortable. Bed was very comfortable, large shower.

United Arab EmiratesThe only thing I could comment on was the road. We completely understand that choosing a farm location there will be some dirt roads, however, our dirt road was really muddy and bumpy and we decided to cut our stay short as the car was slightly damaged and the wheel alignment off due to the road. So if you have a bakkie, this will be the ideal place.
It was a beautiful location with friendly staff that had everything ready for us upon arrival. Michelle was lovely and welcomed us to this stunning location. The studio was equipped with more than what we needed. From firewood to the loveliest bathroom amenities which we went on to purchase.

Abkhazia, GeorgiaI'm absolutely not happy. Firstly, on booking.com, this property listed that they have an outdoor swimming pool, which there isn't at the property, and that was the main reason we booked the property. We were told that it's not functional, and we didn't even see it. Secondly, the pictures on booking.com shows a different cottage which we thought we booked, only to find put that it was just a mere room, with barely anything to use to cook. There was a braai stand which was fully functional, and we had to make breakfast on the braai area. We had to constantly ask for basic utensils like salt, oil etc. We overhead the staff mentioning that it was not the 1st time that happened, when we expressed our dissatisfaction. As for the value for money, it's sad that this sounds rude, but definitely a NO. I wouldn't have had a problem to book the same place if all these were mentioned, I'd know what were getting exactly for what we paid. The bathroom was incredibly smart though, and there are lovely friendly dogs on the premises. The staff is friendly and the views aren't bad at all, it could have been better if we actually stayed were we thought we booked based on provided pictures. As shown on the pictures I've uploaded, it can be seen it says outdoor swimming pool.
We loved the outside hot water tab

South AfricaOn arrival there were nobody to welcome us or show us around the property. Only on out departure we found a cupboard with swimming towels as they never told us about it. Havent seen the host for our entire stay 😪. The photo's on the booking.com site is misleading as you got the imopression that the hottub is part of the aparment instead it us quite far and confusing which tub belongs to which apartment. The wi-fi is also not working well.
The apartment was perfect, beautifully decorated and furnished and lovely and spacious with amazing views, had everything you needed and very good location would highly recommend

GermanyGetting to and from the accommodation was not comfortable. Long dirt roads which is not exactly suitable for all types of cars. If you don't own a car, you won't be able to reach the accommodation. Also road works in between accommodation and Hermanus. Facilities very average.
Beautiful scenery of mountains around and very big comfy bed! Smooth and welcoming check in.

South AfricaThe road was a problem due to the amount of rain received - low water bridge possible hassle due to the rain. Rooms and bathroom quite small. Due to bad weather we could not go outside to enjoy the farm. Self catering not really effective. Very small kitchenette.
Beautiful surroundings in a wonderful setting in the mountains. For cyclists and nature lovers this can be a gem.

Good but the compact size wasn’t obvious in the description. As a compact cozy stay, it is good though, although possibly overpriced. We stayed over for a wedding in the area. It is very very small for 2 people sharing a bathroom and getting ready. But beautiful farm and well appointed.
