I don't mind rustic, but the main bedroom door didn't close, and some cupboard doors needed repair. These small details detract from what is a beautifully situated charming cottage which offers unequalled peace and tranquility.

The kitchen could be better equipped. For example: Although the cottage sleeps 4, there were only 3 matching plates and 1 glass wine glass. There weren’t enough tumblers.

The cottage was cosy and comfy. We loved the outlook towards the mountains in the distance. Wisdom, the host, was an absolute star. Nothing was too much trouble for him. We loved having a fireplace - even in January. A fire was lit every night. We loved the dogs visiting. And the cat. It was great having the horses on the property too. We enjoyed the tranquility and nearby walks.

Poor state of the national roads

Beautiful location; however, getting there was a challenge as the national roads are in a bad state of disrepair. This, coupled with the heavy mist, necessitated a very slow drive which made the trip feel much longer and tiring.

Pear Tree cottage was the perfect location after our 5day Giants cup hike. It was warm and cozy with a spectacular view. We loved the simplicity of the stay and special touches like fresh garden flowers and fresh farm milk. Hope to visit again soon.

The bathroom was neat with basic amenities. However the hand held shower was not working as we could not get the water to work to flow properly of even at all. The cold and hot water do not mix properly to create a warm water experience. Shower definitely needs to be repaired or replaced.

The place was quiet, neat, and cozy. It had all amenities required for a comfortable stay. The staff were very friendly and accommodating with a few of our requests. The braai area was comfy with plenty of seating and a neat braai stand. The fireplace was beautiful and very welcoming on a cold night. The view from the home is amazing especially for star gazing.

Very neglected inside, urgently need paint. Toilet struggle to flush Smoke smell of fireplace (from previous use) lingering throughout the whole house.

We loved the tranquil feeling of the cottage. The views were incredible and my daughter especially liked the horses.

Road to the property is a gravel for 14kms, reckon ok in a 4x4, though I had a city hire care. There was a storm on one afternoon, driving a bit hard but made it through.

Lovely environment, helpful staff, beautiful scenery. Just a lovely place to spend peaceful time in an idyllic environment. Loved the dogs and cat visits and the lovely open robdavel for sundowners and tea. Nice fire and some wine in the evening. Good place to unwind. Visit to the dairy was an interesting option. Proximity to Sani pass had us doing a drive to the SA border control point.

What a lovely gem of a cottage. Stunning view. I wish we stayed a few days longer. There is a lot to do in the vicinity. Highly recommended, good value for money.
