This was the best place on our tour. Beautiful nature, the river, the animals, a cottage with fireplaces and hot tub, which we used in the evening. You will get lovely and great food in the barn and for breakfast. Don’t forget to order the barbecue basket.

The breakfast baskets were a beautiful fresh treat. And every morning, we were spoiled with something different. The wood-fired pool was a real hit (with our teenage son). And we enjoyed rowing - the river is just a short walk away.

There wasn't anything we didn't like.

Rivergate guest farm without doubt exceeded our expectations and I almost don't want to share how good it was and keep it a secret but that wouldn't be fair. The staff were very friendly and they made our stay very welcoming.We stayed in the Gardeners Cottage which sleeps 4 people and its a very spacious cottage and boasts a big outdoor area and even has a hot tub which we used a couple of times even though it was summer. We also made use of the braai facilities a couple of the nights we were there and not to mention the breakfast basket each morning that was full of fresh ingredients and we loved how everything was packaged with the care of the environment in mind. We stayed 3 nights but next time we will be staying longer to spend more time on the farm with the animals and explore more of the farm. If I could give it higher than 10/10 I would.

Beautiful Place with great cottages and lovely breakfast baskets. Beds super comfy and amazing gardens. Mini Donkeys are so cute! Peacocks with their babies cruising around are very entertaining.

Due to the peacocks we had a lot of poo on the cushions and our room seemed to be a little dusty

Only issue was we had some noise in the roof with birds or animals but we reported it.

Location was excellent, chalet was big and spacious. The breakfast was out of this world with so many options and lots of food. Staff super friendly and helpful. Lots of animals. Great garden and hot tub.

Nothing - it was great!

The location is a few minutes from Standford The farm is absolutely gorgeous - flowers everywhere, cutest animals , very well laid out The rooms are comfy The food is delicious - recommend the spaghetti bolognese and garden salad as a no fuss meal. Breakfast box great Owner run- so everything is Perfect, and everyone goes the extra mile to help make your stay extra special Kayak and SUP boards were so fun Able to go for a walk in their farm over the road .Cute farm shop with beautiful art of the animals on the farm- a special shop. Peacocks everywhere! Did I mention the cute animals 😬

Nothing! Everything was PERFECT :)

Wow! Just wow! We were blown away by the beauty of this magical farm. The service, the staff, the lush gardens, beautifully decorated rooms and animals is beyond amazing! Everything about it is just exceptional. The breakfast baskets were such a treat, all freshly made and prepared daily and delivered to your room. We cannot wait to visit again, it’s heaven on earth for sure! One of the best stays in the Overberg region - highly recommend booking!

What's not to like!?

The attention to detail was unbelievable. We loved the canoes and standup paddle boards available to use on the river. Spacious interior and lovely lawns in front of our unit (Stable). The Boulles game left out for us to play was so thoughtful. The owners were always available for a chat or to assist with anything we needed. Beautifully appointed interior with many classy finishes. We loved the breakfast basket that was delivered every morning. Highly recommended!

We stayed in Carpenters cottage. The walls were very thin and we could hear everything our fellow guests were saying! Getting to sleep took forever! Lights were needed over the kitchen area.

I liked the setting of the cottage overlooking a lovely garden.
