How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Lacks attention to detail, e.g., bedside lamp didn’t work, dinner plates and table settings were a bit shabby. Although our room was lovely, it has no privacy because it leads straight onto the pool area ( has to close our blinds so that no-one could see into our room. No fan or aircon in the room. No running water during load-shedding for showers, basins, baths or toilets. The dinner and breakfast were both tasty…like home cooking, but less than what you would expect for the price.
Very quiet, tranquil, pretty location in the forest. very comfortable bed and linen. Lovely room.

A door or curtain on the bathroom for privacy and to keep out the light at night is needed. Perhaps a small table to open luggage on for ease. The access road needs improvement

The location and amazing views make this place a 10, but considering the below aspects, it gets a 7. 1. The breakfast was average at best. Not much variety as well. 2. The coffee in the rooms was terrible. Considering you catering for international guests, surely we can show them that SA has better coffee to offer. 3. The old free-standing cupboard (Which looks like an old TV cupboard) should be removed and replaced with a table of some sort. Having a kettle and a fridge inside a cupboard is silly and impractical. 4. It gets cold in winter, which is understandable, but extra blankets should be provided. Why arent there air cons in the rooms? Those old wall heaters do nothing. 5. Limited selection of alcohol. No cocktails are made. At least have the option of providing some basic cocktails. This place has huge potential, but for now, it is an 7. If it wasn't for the amazing scenic views, it would be a 5 for us.
Amazing views of the forest. You literally stay between a mass of trees. It was like a super fancy tree house. The location stood out for us the most. The staff were very friendly and assisted us with everything we needed.

Mixed feelings here. Beautiful setting but it feels more like an instagramable place than a 4. hotel. It rained all night and got our bathroom flooded (glass roof). We would have liked a gesture from the management as all our stuff were wet. Breakfast very basic (filtered coffee, concentrated orange juice, bacon, eggs, some mushrooms and tomatoes) not sure they do have a proper kitchen on site, because we couldn’t hear or smell anything (except a microwave). The staff on their phone in the back watching videos full sound during breakfast. Staff need training as we can feel a bit more the hospitality and make us feel a bit more special. Doesn’t go the extra mile. The dirt/gravel road to get there is a bit tricky (good to know). We can see and understand the good concept behind this place but it misses the « sense data » we were looking for… It’s a bit void of the experience it promises.
The setting is nice, beautiful surroundings. The SPA has good massages but the sauna is not really a sauna (made out of glass, which is too cold and the air is blowing under the glass door). Photogenic or practicality, what comes first ?

The accommodation was really special and we enjoyed our stay. Even though we were the only guest in our first night, they cooked a fabulous meal for us and everyone was really friendly!

The lights outside our bedroom did not work nor did the one electric blanket. The decor is very average with no attention to detail.
The setting is very beautiful and different. Wonderful and his team were very good.
