How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We use a weighted review system which means that the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Mosquitoes we couldn't sleep and left the hotel first thing in the morning. There is loadshedding and no back up system. No Mosquitoes spray in the rooms. beds are hard not comfortable at all.

I requested for a room service on Thursday night ,n I was literally told it was not possible 🙃, imagine I only book at cairo because it's closer to where I will be doing my business, zambia is extremely hot wen it comes to weather. I will be very tired wen I'm back at night 🌙 😴 and protea is a decent hotel why would they refuse my request wen I asked 🙃, to make matters worse they were 4 plates they even refused to help out up to the door of my room ,I had to go to their dining twice simply because they cn not offer basic service, why would you want to help me carry my bag wen I arrive n take it to the room when you can not help me carry my food to the hotel room ,that's rubbish I was very annoyed,I told the waiter wen I was ordering that I was so tired 😫, I hv been walking the whole day n it was extremely hot outside, all I needed was to eat n sleep 😴.was that too much to ask for a big hotel like that???????????

Cold shower
The location is great, quick checking in, excellent wifi connection, the deposit safe facility were a big plus and close proximity to shopping malls. Reception and catering staff were amazing!

Need to consider changing the type of mattresses for Executive rooms. The current mattresses are too stiff (hard).

The size of the room. The rest was perfect
The break fast was exceptional. The room size was a little small but it was exceptional. The staff were very welcoming and friendly and made it feel like a second home. Overall I rate it a solid 10/10!

The hotel is dated and the location is not ideal-----its in downtown on a busy street.

The WiFi was a big problem. It was not always working and when it did, it was very poor. I had to spend over USD150 on roaming to be able to connect to my office and send documents as needed.
The attention of staff was very good and always ready to help.

WiFi was a bit slow but not really bad maybe 1 or 2 touch ups so that it can speed up a bit. But it wasn't that bad.
Breakfast was very nice and it's a good location for business and very easy to access other places from there all the staff members were very helpful and cheerful. Rooms were very clean and I must say keep it up team protea hotel cairo you are the best.....

The hotel looks unattended. The corridor leading to my room was sad, with no pictures on the walls, and a strange odor of "not been occupied for long". Don't know how to describe it. The AC was too noisy and I had to switch it on and off during the night. No bulbs on the lamps next to the beds! Very bad experience at check-in as well the food was not up to my expectations neither - i only had a dinner and did not want to renew the experience The staff was very nice
Very few options for the breakfast . Scrambled eggs were not well done.

Need to refurbish the place and remove carpets. They had a terrible smell. I couldn't sleep at the hotel, it triggered my allergies.
