Your perfect lakes escape begins here, at our family-run hotel located in the bustling village of Braithwaite.

The property was gorgeous- recently renovated and incredibly luxurious. It’s far enough outside the bustle of Keswick that it feels peacefully off the beaten path, but remains close enough that the main town in the area is easily accessible by bus. The breakfast great and all of the staff members I interacted with were incredibly kind.

Lismore Guest House enjoys a location in Whitehaven, 18 miles from Wasdale and 18 miles from Muncaster Castle.

The room was very comfortable and pleasant, the shower was good and there was everything we needed, including secure bike storage. The host was very friendly and welcoming, meeting us and providing help before we'd even asked. Breakfast was delicious, with loads of choice and a beautifully presented vegan cooked breakfast for me (and non-vegan choices for my colleague). The view from the breakfast room over the sea was amazing and a great start to our day. It is also just round the corner from the train station and harbour and a 2min walk from a really good Indian restaurant, the Akash.

Gorgeous house, very cosy. Room was lovely with a comfortable bed, two seater couch, small fridge, TV, kettle, and private bathroom attached. Ample wardrobe space. Owners are warm and welcoming - Jan makes her own marmalade and has won many gold awards for it; definitely try the earl grey one. The cutest cat and dog. Stream nearby with a plunge pool. WiFi available on the room. Stunning views of the peaks from the window and you can spot some red squirrels about.

The traditional Cumberland breakfast was one of the best cooked breakfasts that I’ve had in a long time. The location is an excellent base for many local walks of different grades and lengths, it’s also very quiet.
