Just off exit 61 from the A1M highway, The Old Mill is a traditional English Inn offering excellent food all day and private bedrooms. Durham is just 5 miles away.

Warm welcome and informed me of meal times and where to go to find my room as I've never been here before. I went for a special on the menu and thoroughly enjoyed the Game Casserole with a leek dumpling and root mash. A full breakfast was also had which I really enjoyed and set me up for the morning. Thanks again and if I'm in the area again, I would stay again.

Castle View Guesthouse enjoys a location in Durham, 9.1 miles from Beamish Museum and 16 miles from Stadium of Light. Guests staying at this guest house have access to a terrace.

The location, the large room with furnishings not usually included with accommodations at this price, the excellent breakfast and the extremely kind personnel. Even with Durham Cathedral being closed for matriculation ceremonies, it was a very memorable visit.

Located in Bishop Auckland, 21 miles from Lumley Castle, The Saxon Inn has accommodations with a garden, free private parking, a shared lounge and a terrace.

It was a lovely place to stay room was excellent. Breakfast was one of the better ones I have had whilst staying away from home. I only have a couple of negatives, and they are. There was a dog that barked either in the adjacent room or owners quarters, barked several times, and woke me . Also, although the bed was comfortable. It creaked loudly when getting in and out of bed. Possibly, the bolts needed retightening. But for a one night stay, it was reasonably good.

Friendly welcome (thanks Paul!) and a clean, relatively quiet room even though it was on the street side. Beautiful old building with classic features. Also a great location for walking to the event I was attending at Hardwick Hall.

This is not just a bed snd breakfast. It’s an amazing fine dining restaurant in an immaculately converted period property with spacious luxury quirky rooms. The best boutique hotel I’ve stayed in and deserves inn of the year.
