Originally booked room for 2 people 166e, asked if another girl could stay, charged an extra 70e for that person, although had to share bed, thought this was a bit expensive, 237e for a b&b 5km from the town was a bit pricey...could have got hotel in wesport town for this price....
Breakfast was not great.....sausage and rasher undercooked and coffee was cheap branded instant...
Check in is 4pm, that's OK but to have to check out by 10:30 am is ridiculous.....not great value for money.
Hostess was very nice but felt a touch of "rip off ireland" here

My friend and I stayed at Bertra House for our Croagh Patrick hike, and it was truly unforgettable! From the moment we arrived, we felt so at home thanks to Margareth and John John’s exceptional hospitality. They went above and beyond to make us comfortable and safe, even offering us rides to and from Croagh Patrick when the weather turned rainy. Their thoughtfulness didn’t stop there; they even dried our clothes after the hike!
The location is perfect—just a five-minute walk to the beach and a quick ten-minute drive to the starting point of the hike. Bertra House itself is charming, cozy, and incredibly clean. It’s easily one of the safest and most welcoming places we’ve ever stayed, and we’re already looking forward to seeing Margareth and John John again next year! Highly recommended for anyone planning to explore the area.
For travellers who enjoy beauty in the simple things, a bed and breakfast (B&B) is the perfect place for a getaway. Hosts welcome guests into their homes and provide a private room and complimentary breakfast. Bathrooms may be shared by other guests, and there is often shared space with the host.
Great location with beautiful views of Kilary Harbour. Clean, quiet and comfortable room. Off-street parking. Excellent breakfast. We arrived early, soaking wet on a motorbike. They kindly let us in well before check-in time.
