Everything was perfect, from our arrival (with a pick up from the airport arranged by the hotel) to our last day on the island. The location is very good, close to the sea and the port (for a day trip on a boat) and the city center, which makes you really experience the life of Lamu. The hotel manager helped us organise various activities, like a boat trip and a snorkeling trip and all exceeded our expectations: the crew, the food and the experience as a whole were great. He also recommended good restaurants nearby which we really loved. We always felt safe and that we had someone to rely on. The hotel itself is in a very nice building and we really enjoyed the breakfast on the terrace with the sea view. The room was clean and comfortable. We wished we could have spent more days there!

This historical Arabian-style building is located in the UNESCO-listed town of Lamu. It is less than 300 metres from the seafront and 3 km from the white sandy beach. Wonderful experience! We spontaneously decided to visit Lamu and came across Subira’s house. The team organized an amiable boat driver who brought us to the house. Once we arrived we were welcomed by Mohammed, who showed us the building and our room. The atmosphere and hospitality of the staff are so friendly and warm, which made us very comfortable. The breakfast is amazing - try the moringa omelette! The rooms were very cute and spacious and we had a beautiful outdoor patio which was perfect to wind down in the evening. The team is very connected to the town and can help with any requests such as organizing a Henna Designer or finding great restaurants. We were so happy with the decision to visit this beautiful town and the Subira house, which is perfectly located! We hope that the house will remain like it is and will find a lovely new owner!

The pictures don’t do the property any justice. My room had the perfect view for the purple hues of the sunset. The food, room, location was perfect. I had the pleasure of meeting the owner and he was very inviting. I felt like I was at a family home instead of a hotel….the intimacy of the hotel was peaceful.
