It was during the off-season; I was the only guest! Shang Xiaofei was super helpful - he not only picked me up and dropped me off at Zhangye West Station, but suggested an itinerary, taking into account the weather (we had some dust storms) and provided estimated travel times and cost). We were only a few minutes' walk from Zhangye Danxia (Rainbow Mountains). The staff had taken note of my allergies, and cooked me a lovely breakfast with lots of variety. When I cooked hot pot for dinner, they kept popping in to check if I was okay. I thought the glamping tents were top-notch (I've stayed in other such tents since). They supplied slippers, an electric blanket and a heater. Also, I don't speak Mandarin (only enough to say I don't speak it!) and the staff were patient and helpful enough to use translation apps to communicate.
