The bungalows on the isla are next to the island with the busiest beach of Colombia. Its a madhouse there with yachts, Jetski s banana boats and loud blasting music from 9AM to 4PM. It is not tranquil and peaceful at all.
We were luckily able to change to a bungalow on the mainland. Which was much better.
The bungalows are nice, but we don't think the basics are up to standards. The bed is horrible, so is the lighting. And the airco is blasting directly on your bed with no option to alter it.
The bathroom is nice. So is the pool and the outside deck. But an extra parasol is missing. There is no shade from 1PM on.
On the positive side: the staff is very friendly and helpful.
Last but not least the price of the food and beverages are extravagant. Since you have no option of going elsewhere it doesn't feel ok.
So def not a good price quality.
Note: when driving your own vehicle you're going to experience an unpleasant experience with local people trying to stop you and force you on all sorts of unwanted services about 10KM before the actual village of Baru. Also Baru seems very hostile. So our advice: don't stop!

I am writing this review from Playa Blanca Baru. One can'' t comprare. In Playa Scondida it was so quiet, so family-like... of course if one likes solitude. The couple who takes care of you- are very nice people, ready to fulfill every wish of yours. All staff were extremely nice and friendly. The place is perfect for 3 days. Thank you for everything.

We really loved it here! The room was very nice! The best was Josue, who always looked after us. Even though we didn't speak Spanish, he made such an effort to communicate with us. When we had to leave at 6:00 a.m., he organized everything for us and even made us coffee at 6:00 a.m. and accompanied us back. He was truly great, and he made us feel completely welcome and comfortable!

Staff were super friendly and helpful. Beautiful beach, and hotel is right on the beach with a private area. There’s not any restaurants or bars or anything nearby so we had all meals at the hotel and after dinner there’s nothing to do, but nice if you just want to have a place to chill out. Comfy bed, room was nice. Could do with a shower for your feet before entering the hotel as everything gets covered in sand. No AC so does get warm in the room.

You can’t beat the price & the beach is beautiful.
You can’t beat the price & the beach is beautiful. The people were great & friendly. However I would bring mosquito spray & ear plugs bc if you get the room next to a generator it will drive you crazy.
The best room is with the balcony so you could enjoy the sound of the waves & beautiful view, it’s definitely worth the extra money. Food & drinks were good. Take the taxi & boat suggested.

Baru is not a lonely remote place where you will enjoy peace and quiet. Hotels and lodges are literally next to each other. There are many people. When swimming, be careful of boats and jet skis that drive here and there very close to the shore. But the sun and the sea make all that unimportant. There are also various excursion options.

Wow this location is AMAZING.
Wow this location is AMAZING. Truly it was a private beach all to ourselves… only one other couple there on our first night. The property only has 4 rooms total so you’re never going to have a bunch of people there. The staff were SO accommodating and patient with our lack of ability to speak Spanish. We only speak English, staff only spoke English but they always used translation making it very easy to communicate! I saw other reviews complaining about the food being overpriced and no hot water for the shower which seems silly to me after now experiencing how remote this place is! It was my toddlers first travel experience, and I was SO happy with the comfort Carey House offered. Is it a luxury hotel, no. But does it have everything you need on a remote beach location with PERFECT Carribean swimming and the best staff ever? Yes. We will be coming back!

The only way to get from the arrival area to your hotel is to walk along the beach with your luggage or by boat. When the seas are ruff and there are no boats you must carry your luggage through the sand and water. Depending where your hotel is, that could be a mile. There is one tiny bodega on the beach to buy soda and beer and not much else. It’s best for a short stay.

Horrible place, instead of the sea breeze you'll enjoy exhaust from the dozens of motorboats and scooters cruising everywhere without any rules. They make a horrible noise all over the day, combined with loud music from each bar it caused a headache. Food and drinks are extremely expensive, we got poisoned by some food there being sick for 3 days.
Trash is everywhere behind the beach line.

Everything!!! Our stay at the hotel was worth every minute, from the boat ride from the dock to our return. The rooms are super spacious and comfortable, the staff is super friendly, the food is very typical and delicious. If you are looking for a place to really disconnect, relax in front of the beach and enjoy the advantages of being on an island, Islas del Encanto is the place.
Many thabks to Dennise, Christian, Alicia, Martin and Lore for your outstanding service.
I was looking for a property that was off the beaten tracks on Isla Baru and Casa Cordaba Baru is exactly this. The forthcoming and friendly staff combined with a very relaxed and quiet athmosphere in an very well maintained property is a perfect hideaway for those that dont need or want to escape the buzz.
The hotel met all of our expectations, delivering exactly what we were looking for. The staff were exceptionally nice, helpful, and genuinely committed to making our experience the best it could be.
