The house is beautifully restored and was great for a big group. Ross and his team were incredibly welcoming and flexible to whatever we needed.

The hosts are awesome, location is great if you want to see east -southeast Ireland, away from noisy cities in a heartwarming rural setting among farms, but 4 km away from the highway.

It was a good location. It’s a short drive to Kilkenny too. The food was excellent and the wait staff very friendly. Our room was clean and comfortable.

Parking was very expensive and a pain to get to from hotel. There is no proper connection door.
Prices and menu in bar restaurant were very expensive for essentially pub grub.. wasn't anything fancy.
Pool area was a bit grubby but overall the hotel was nice.

Excellent value. Bedrooms are very spacious and comfortable. Friendly staff. Lovely Christmas vibes, with lots of effort given to decorations. Generous car parking which is free. The hotel is just outside Abbeyleix which is very charming, easy drive to Durrow or to Heywood Gardens, also not far to Portlaoise, where there is great shopping and regular train to Dublin.
This surely is an exceptional house! Large rooms, plenty of space to sit and relax. Very well equipped kitchen to make your meals if you wish. Renovation is done with good taste and honoring the old house. Nice back garden too. Parking was easy, lots of parking slots just outside the house. We went to see the bog and had a nice walk there (The Abbeyleix Bog Project).
Blackhill Woods is situated in a wooded site a few minutes from the lovely town of Abbeyleix. The wooded area is organic .... carefully maintained without disturbing the natural growth very much. Yoga classes take place daily.
Breakfast served to the room is delicious. Simon is a wonderful host, welcoming, helpful and knowledgeable but in no way intrusive.
Excellent breakfast with happy friendly staff .The whole experience was amazing.Spacious bedrooms and lounges which were very cosy and comfortable. Location just.at the edge of Abbeyleix was very peaceful. Reception staff very heloful too and friendly.. We will certainly return..
This hotel is a beautiful and quiet place surrounded by nature. The staff member that greeted us was very friendly. The room was very clean, and I loved the healthy breakfast. I woke up feeling refreshed after the stay.
