Forward-Thinking Royal Capital
The rapidly expanding Jordanian capital, Amman is an economic powerhouse spread over various hills. Atop one sits the Citadel, containing remains of the Roman Temple of Hercules, a Byzantine church and an 8th-century mosque and palace.
Also here is the Jordan Archaeological Museum, and at the foot of the hill is a Roman theatre, part built in the rock. Modern housing blocks surround it, but the most avant-garde architecture is in the developing Al Abdali business district.
The tallest Amman structures will be the Jordan Gate Towers and will house one of the city’s high-rise hotels. International brands of restaurants and bar can be found alongside more traditional cuisine in Amman, and many eateries are in the large Mecca Mall and Grand City Mall, which also has a cinema.
Nearby is the desert-like vegetation of Al Hussein National Park, and the Royal Automobile Museum which features cars of King Hussein, ruler for over 40 years and after whom are named city sights such as the King Hussein Business Park and mosque. The King Abdullah I Mosque has a beautiful blue dome, while Abu Darweesh Mosque at Amman’s highest point is a striking black-and-white structure.

Its a beautiful country. Its a land of Beautiful historical and heritage places. Food is good , people are good. Driving around the valleys , country side and mountains was an amazing experience. Best highlights were stay in Wadi Rum, PETRA and Aqaba. Also , visit to Jarash and As-Salt city was very good. Amman is a beautiful and safe city were history gather with modern vibes along friendly and generous local people and delicious food every where from tradition Mansaf , Shawrma , Kunafa to steaks and western cousins. very nice weather specially in summer. its a uniquid combination that you cant get only in big historic cities like Cairo , Damascus and Baghdad, etc.., its much smaller in dimensions but give that sense of History , warm, genericity and friendly people. Amman is a bustling city.
Amman is a bustling city. There's plenty to see, & many nice quiet gardens are dotted around the place. The people are most welcoming to visitors. The Ampitheatre is unmissable for those who appreciate antiquities. Some very nice restaurants in the 'Downtown' area, all very reasonably priced. Amman has a lot to offer. Center for the tourist spots especially when going to Jerash , Dead Sea, Madaba which is full of history. People are very friendly, accommodating and helpful. I have a thorough check up in the airport maybe because of what is happening. What I don't have like is the way they check my hand carry bag even my money in the wallet was checked.
