Breakfast was wonderful - perfect poached eggs and a fantastic selection of high quality food. Loved the rhubarb yoghurt and granola as well as the very fresh granary bread.

The first time we had stayed at the Apple Pie and it won't be our last. Excellent location with on the door parking. Staff welcomed us and explained the layout. We had the attic double room, so it was cozy, clean, and quirky. All amenities you need for your stay.

Staff were friendly. Main meal menu was good, and good value. The parking is free for those who grab a space. The public parking next door is 8 pounds for 24 hours, if you can persuade the ticketing systems to work. However during a week's stay at a busy time, I only had to park in the public area once.
These hotels offer something unique in terms of design and are usually set in a trendy, urban part of town. Blending high standards with a homey vibe, boutique hotels are more intimate than your average hotel.
The room was really well presented with nice touches, the grounds are absolutely stunning and a lovely morning sat in the garden outside my room with a coffee.
The staff were all super friendly, helpful and even when the bar was full of thirsty walkers their smiles and attentiveness didn’t waiver.
The food was delicious and very generous portion sizes, the eyes were definitely bigger than our bellies.
Would without doubt book to stay here again.
Loved everything about this hotel. It was quiet, had gorgeous views, outdoor tables and seating to enjoy the fresh air, a lovely pub feel restaurant at the back and a beautiful restaurant area for breakfast. I think I was upgraded to a different room which was so cosy and comfortable. Staff were chilled out, friendly and helpful. Loved my stay here, thank you.
The hotel is in beautiful grounds in a stunning situation. We had a lovely, spacious room - the comfy mattress and cotton bed linen were superb, as was the large shower in the bathroom. We also ate there in the evening with friends and the meal was above expectations, as was the breakfast the following morning.
I'm usually not a big fan of hostels but this is truly one of the good ones. Possibly the best I've ever stayed in. Affordable, comfortable and cosy. Great friendly staff, nice common room and affordable yummy home cooked meals. The rooms have a pretty view and it's in a lovely old building. Very clean and feels almost more like an old fashioned BnB than a hostel. I booked it last minute to escape the rain while walking the Cumbria way and didn't regret it, big recommendations!
Gorgeous views, friendly and extremely helpful staff, I didn’t get our waitress name I only know she had a Liverpudlian accent, She was so attentive and welcoming, nothing was too much trouble,
Beautiful breakfast and lovely bar area
