This elegant 18th-century country house is situated amid the quiet of the Somerset countryside, yet within reach of the M5, just 8 km from Taunton and Ilminster.

Stayed several times over the years, but it is in the middle of outside work and the scaffolding took something away from the ambiance. Parking was also a little difficult also as a result. The main disappointment if I am being really honest is that the staff were unfriendly, particularly at check in and it all seemed a bit hurried & stressful. We have family in Taunton so this was always our go to place. Sadly things change.

The owners were so lovely and made me feel very welcome, at ease and safe as a solo female traveller. The room was very comfortable, lots of hot water, and the breakfast was delicious and great value. Martock was in a good position for visiting various national trust properties.
