We were met by Paul and he is a proper ray of sunshine. We felt welcomed and he showed us our room. Explained everything and we were left to our own devices.

Village Hotel Newcastle is just 15 minutes' drive from Newcastle city center. The hotel offers a leisure club with a 25-yard pool.

Annoying self check-in desk. Staff had to intervene. If they're there anyway, why not have a proper reception. Thin bedroom walls. Huge crack right across the basin. Shower inside bath, dangerous getting in and out.

Just 1 mile from Durham Rail Station and city center, the Radisson Blu Durham has fantastic views of Durham Cathedral. It offers stylish rooms, free WiFi, a restaurant, bar and modern health club.

I can't fault the staff, all were friendly and helpful and working efficiently. We had a couple of requests (extra blanket, softer pillows) which were quickly accommodated. Staff were also very attentive in the restaurant during dinner. There was a little Easter egg for my daughter in the room, which was a lovely touch. The room was very comfortable, the windows also seem to stop quite a bit of the noise; it was the best sleep we had in a hotel so far (we don't sleep that great away from home so that's saying something). I personally really enjoyed the selection of teas in the room, while my daughter loved the water and ice station that's located on each floor. Breakfast was fantastic! I almost wanted to sample one of each of their offerings but I can't eat that much. And the staff worked tirelessly at replenishing the buffet as needed.

The location, the cleanliness and stylishness of the apartment. It was lovely and warm and comfortable. Parking was really convenient and finding the apartment and accessing the property all went very smoothly. Will definitely book the apartment again when we visit Sunderland.

Loved the room style, restaurant and bar was amazing beautiful in design and atmosphere. Staff were very kind and professional and very helpful. We don't live far from this hotel/bar/restaurant, but due to the look and luxury we decided to give it a go, and so glad we did. Our time together is limited due to childcare and work, and it was worth every penny and minute spent here. Cannot wait till we can re book!
