The 4-star Ellison is adjacent to the Royal Theater Castlebar in the heart of Castlebar Town. Siar Restaurant serves Irish and International cuisine.

We chose the Ellison at the last minute, as I had taken the day off to attend my graduation ceremony, and we decided to take the train to Castlebar. From the very beginning, the hotel exceeded our expectations with their exceptional care and thoughtfulness. Before our arrival, they proactively called to advise on safe driving due to adverse weather conditions caused by Storm Bert, and they reassured us with flexible check-in options in case of any delays. When we arrived, we were greeted by a magical sight, the landscape was completely covered in snow, creating a winter wonderland that took our breath away. The next morning, we were delighted by the generous breakfast spread, which offered a wide variety of sweet and savoury options to suit every taste. The hotel was bustling with students and their families gathered for the local university’s graduation ceremony, filling the hall with a lively and festive atmosphere. What truly sets the Ellison apart is the warmth and friendliness of its staff. Their genuine hospitality made our stay even more special, and we are so grateful for the wonderful experience. Thank you for making such an important occasion even more unforgettable!

Kitchen was very neatly organized. Overall cleanliness of the place is top notch and a lot of thought has been put into designing the place. Hot tub was fantastic. Can park the cars right outside the rooms. Wifi was excellent. The owner Stephen helped with the Pizza oven and was a very kind person to deal with. He has a shop in the front with the reception with snacks, soft drinks, etc.

The hotel was beautiful and we received a complimentary upgrade to a signature room which was a lovely surprise! The staff were very friendly, the room was gorgeous with a nice view overlooking the grounds. The breakfast offered a good selection of tasty food. We also really liked the option of having drinks away from the bar in the little covey. Would recommend and return!

Location was perfect, the staff were lovely. Very welcoming and happy to chat for conversation's sake. We had dinner in the bar and the food was delicious. Beds comfy. Decent carpark capacity. And a nightclub to boot. Hotel also looks gorgeous. Has a proper "Old World" look to it.

This place was absolutely beautiful! Everything about it was great, the rooms were beautiful and comfortable, the meals were great. Everything was so stylish and beautifully decorated. I was so impressed to see my favourite William Morris wallpaper in the restaurant! I loved sitting by the fireplace in the lobby reading my book. The grounds are stunning. Staff were very friendly. Great value for money.
