Sitting by the picturesque Vembanad Lake, the charming Taj Kumarakom Resort and Spa is housed in a colonial bungalow built in the late 1800s.

We chose Taj Kumarakom to unwind and escape from our fast-paced life. True to their website description, this resort beautifully integrates with the local wildlife—indeed, we saw more birds and wildlife here than at the nearby bird sanctuary! From the moment we arrived, we were warmly welcomed with refreshing coconut water and charming coconut garlands. Seamless check-in, escorted us to our room, and introduced us to the delightful "Chaykada" for evening tea. Our room was super spacious and centrally located, providing easy access to the front of the resort—where the front office, restaurant, and activities area are situated—as well as to the back, featuring the tranquil backwaters and Chaykada, the evening tea area. We later discovered that the late Prime Minister, Mr. Atal Bihari Vajpayee, had stayed in the same room during his visit to Kumarakom for medical treatment. Each morning began peacefully with the melodies of birds. Our days effortlessly flowed from swimming to a delicious breakfast, followed by badminton or cycling, rest, gym sessions, another swim, and dinner. We genuinely can't believe how quickly our week passed! The housekeeping team, activity team, wellness team, and restaurant team are awesome. Entertainment during Dinner was wonderful. While we enjoyed cycling or walking around the resort, we greatly appreciated the buggy service, which was always promptly available. It was truly difficult for us to leave this wonderful place, and we are already looking forward to returning soon! Located on the banks of Vembanad Lake, Sterling Lake Palace Alleppey offers accommodation with Kerala architecture and décor. This resort features a restaurant, an outdoor pool and free parking.

Great setting with beautiful gardens and well kept grounds. Good restaurant on site with great staff, special mention to Asif who looked after our group of 9. The location is remote, if you like remote so you end up staying here for lunch/dinner.

The hotel is in a beautiful setting and elegantly designed. The staff were very attentive to our needs and extremely helpful! The food was very tasty- breakfast had a great mix of Indian dishes as well European/continental items. We also loved dinner in the Vemband restaurant - some of the best we had in Kerala. We loved relaxing overlooking the lake and by the pool! The cultural show and tea in the afternoon that is served was also wonderful.

Are we in paradise or Eden? We can imagine looking on to the waters a world without humankind other than an occasional fishing boat passing by. We turn our backs and look towards the resort designed in a U shape with an excellent integration of traditional crafted architecture.

Stunning looking, cosy home stay, immaculate comfortable bedroom, bathroom and really lovely bed. Jesvanth and Sanu were so welcoming and friendly I felt so relaxed and happy here. Sunrise canoeing was beautiful and peaceful. I enjoyed meeting the local families, the chai and the demo from a toddy tapper! Jesvanth is a passionate and fab cook so I could watch and learn how to cook the amazing food he prepared for me. He also runs Wonderwerk cookery classes from little Chembaka.

This is a gorgeous hotel, really couldn’t find much to fault about it. The rooms are huge, incredibly clean and lovely toiletries. The staff are really helpful and attentive. The breakfast buffet was expansive and tasty. The pool was a decent size and not just for show with lovely flowers. Lots of beautiful birds and butterflies to look at in the gardens. I don’t think it had the amenities of larger resorts nearby which was fine for us but if that’s something you want it’s not far to walk to some of the other resorts.

My wife Leigh and I had a wonderful few days at Mango Kerala Homestay during our honeymoon. Divya, Dilip and their lovely daughters were superb hosts, welcoming, friendly and helpful - a true Homestay experience. The food was so tasty, South Indian, varied and delicious. We did have a meal at the Taj hotel nearby but the food wasn't as good! Our room (with a balcony overlooking the backwaters) and the entire home was clean and such a lovely place to spend time. The family also have a luxury houseboat where we hope to stay next time!

We couldn't have asked for a better stay at Little Chembaka. The room was beautiful: simple, well-designed, and with a very comfy bed. The location, right on the water, was gorgeous. And the staff - especially Vimal and the chef, Jesvin - were so kind and welcoming. Truly outstanding hospitality. We can't recommend Little Chembaka enough!

We had a lovely stay here. The staff were super helpful, the food was delicious and the grounds were stunning. We particularly enjoyed our tour of the butterfly gardens with Omesh. Such a privilege to be able to speak to such an expert in wildlife! This is a really luxury hotel and well worth visiting
