I have a friend who lived in Japan for several years, and when I told her I wanted to visit Ise, she said, 'You have to stay at Hoshidekan!' and I'm so glad she did.
The building is beautiful, the courtyard is gorgeous, and the hosts are wonderful. It's a short walk from Iseshi station and several great restaurants. Our room was amazing, and so was the bath. We opted to include breakfast in our stay, and it was delicious and the portions very generous.
If you're looking for a lovely ryokan experience, I cannot recommend Hoshidekan enough.
These hotels offer something unique in terms of design and are usually set in a trendy, urban part of town. Blending high standards with a homey vibe, boutique hotels are more intimate than your average hotel.
Perfectly comfortable with good facilities. Friendly staff who are happy to recommend nearby areas. Shared shower rooms were clean. We stayed in the private rooms, love the design of the whole building. Very close to the train station.
Note that the common space (lounge/living room) has a lights out timing. It didn't bother us as we had private rooms, but those staying in the dorm may want to know in advance.
Easily the cleanest hostel I've ever stayed in. Very kind, welcoming staff, excellent facilities and appliances, with a lot of care taken to the interior design and decor. A close walk from the station and in walking distance to the Meoto Iwa (Wedded Rocks). I would absolutely stay here again, thank you for such wonderful hospitality!
It was very aesthetically pleasing. There is a lot of wood and geometric design. Both the owner and the staff were very friendly and helpful .
