A 5-minute walk from Zenko-ji Temple, Japanese-style inn Chuokan Shimizuya Ryokan stands with a history of over 160 years. It features a public bath, massages and free Wi-Fi.

The location was close to the tourist areas and station. The ryokan had a nice Japanese feel and the staff were very lovely

We loved everything about this property. The owners father even went with my husband to park our car in the proper designated parking spot after we parked in the wrong spot. We did get lost a few times so thank goodness he went along otherwise we would have become lost again. The place was warm, clean and very comfortable the Onsen was welcoming after a long day driving. Breakfast was amazing I wish I could eat like that every morning. Highly recommend

Really good size room with a lovely big bed that we haven't found in many of our Japanese hotel stays - so definitely appreciated the space :) breakfast was amazing, incredible view of the city and mountains with a lovely selection of breakfast food, drink, and desserts! Lovely staff, and good location (10min walk from station) with nice shops and food market. 10/10 and would definitely love to stay again as very affordable.

A small but comfortable ryokan sitting on an ancient site on a beautiful pedestrian thoroughfare just fifty yards form the large Zenko-Ji Temple complex, easily accessible from the rail station by either bus or subway. Rooms compact but brilliantly designed - no shoes throughout with every necessary comfort and a really good traditional breakfast. Use the small but well-equipped onsen. Good eateries located nearby but do book.

Location is perfect, just across the station & bus terminal. Room is spacious, clean with modern design and the shampoo, body wash, and conditioner smells luxury. The breakfast is delicious with so many options of Japanese and Western foods. The bed and pillows were comfortable. Definitely will stay at this hotel again if I visit Nagano again. And they have sustainability program which donated unused toiletries. I hope more and more hotel follow their approach.
