Very close to the airport (4 minute cab ride). Very nice buffet breakfast with omelette bar and lots of fresh fruit and a variety of other breakfast items. Nice pool. Right off the ocean. We walked to a nice restaurant for dinner. We got lucky because our flight was cancelled and we needed a place to stay and they were great.
This restored Madeiran mansion is located 2953 feet from Funchal's Old Town and has scenic views of the sea, the city and the mountains from its own botanical gardens and terraces.

This was a very cute boutique hotel w/ beautiful grounds. The room was spacious, clean, well appointed. The shower had good water pressure and good hot water. The daily breakfast was delicious and included a daily specialty juice. You could have your breakfast in the dining room or on the terrace. The staff were very welcoming and helpful and had excellent suggestions for restaurants. The hotel has a covered garage which was very convenient, although the spaces (and the roads) are bit small by American standards. The hotel was only a short walk from Zona Velha. I thoroughly enjoyed our stay!
Featuring views of Funchal Bay, The Views Baia - Adults Only Hotel offers modern accommodations. Facilities include the Four Feelings Spa, 2 swimming pools, and a well-equipped gym.

Absolutely Disappointing – Avoid If You Can
I booked this hotel specifically because it advertised free on-site parking. That was a complete lie. The so-called “free parking” is actually city-owned public parking with only a few spots that are always full. The hotel’s own parking costs one euro per hour. False advertising at its finest.
Upon arrival, I was greeted by a very rude front desk employee, Alexander Rodriguez, who seemed genuinely bothered by the fact that guests were checking in. Things only went downhill from there.
The following morning, the maid (Marimama) began knocking on our door at 8:20 AM. When I called the front desk to ask if this was normal, they said housekeeping doesn’t start until 9:00 AM. So why was she waking us up before then?
The room itself was tired and worn down. Several fixtures were broken and in desperate need of repair. Everything felt outdated and neglected.
To top it all off, when I checked out, I was charged again for the city tax—even though I had already paid it at check-in. They claimed to have lost the original receipt. And when I asked for a copy of the second payment, they accidentally handed me someone else’s receipt—talk about disorganized and careless!
Customer service was terrible, the rooms were dated, and there’s essentially no parking. The only redeeming quality was the breakfast, which was actually decent. But honestly, not worth the stress, the hidden fees, or the lack of professionalism. Never again.
Featuring panoramic views of Praia Formosa, the largest pebble beach in Madeira, the Golden Residence Hotel offers an outdoor pool, a wellness center, and modern accommodations with private balconies....

The location of the hotel is great. Personnel is very friendly and responsive. Room and all facilities are clean. Choice of foods for morning breakfasts is very good.

They welcomed us in the room with a bottle of water, coffee and tea. We had access to the gym and pool and the room was welll-equipped with a TV, hair dryer, mini-fridge and a boiling kettle. The room was fairly clean and room service changed the bedding and towels daily. (upon request). We also opted for included breakfast which was buffet style with tons of options: eggs, sausages, bacon, hashbrowns, beans, a million types of bread, sweets, pastry, fruits, cereal, juices, coffee…
Located close to Funchal’s city center, overlooking the Atlantic Ocean, Meliã Madeira Mare offers free WiFi, an indoor and outdoor pool and a spa.

Since it is a five star hotel the facilities are complete so my days did not go to waste if the weather is not good I can do other activities in the hotel. Plus, it was my birthday celebration, they sneak to my room tidy it up and leave a small present for me. I was totally awed by this. Thank you for making my bday memorable.
These hotels offer something unique in terms of design and are usually set in a trendy, urban part of town. Blending high standards with a homey vibe, boutique hotels are more intimate than your average hotel.
The location is dreamy! So close to the beach and to all the lovely bars and restaurants. Also Machico is a beautiful small town to be based for stunning walks. The hosts were so amenable and generous - just wonderful! Couldn't recommend them more!
Beautifully designed place with great attention to detail, most furniture handmade. The host Ruben is extremely friendly, helpful and knowledgeable about the region and its history.
The views from the bedroom, elevator and the breakfast area were stunning.
The art deco interior was gorgeous, and the layout of the hotel was very stylish.
The breakfast was superb and plentiful.
Amazing luxury view from window directly to ocean and watch landing and starting planes
Location close to the beach and city center
Nice design and orientation and location of the rooms - can go through and around
Kitchen, big shower, washing machine
