The staff were amazing, and it was a pleasure to stay in this historic beautiful palace. However given the weather turning on us, we were especially looking forward to the spa facility, sadly the Hammam steam room was not functioning properly and each time we reported the issue we were told it was fixed… it was not:(

Lovely staff and a very large room. The room was equipped with loads of pillows, a coffee maker, a kettle and small fridge, as well as a desk and couch. As an old school, the room and bath were large in European standards. We had the breakfast our first morning, which was nice, with varied options. The neighborhood was safe and very walk-able. During reception we were offered Port, egg tarts and a short overview of things to do in the city (map) The wifi was great.
This 4-star design hotel offers free parking and great-value-for-money accommodation in the Oporto’s metropolitan area. It is right next to the highway exit of (A4) Ermesinde.

I was there for 4 nights in the first week of April. I arrived an hour before I could check it (13:00). But I thought let’s try or store my luggage. But the staff didn’t bother and checked me in directly. Since it wasn’t busy he gave me a free room upgrade. Which was much appreciated 🙏🏼. I read about a busy road and some noisy youth so a came prepared with earplugs (recommend you to do the same). The guest house can’t do anything about it but my room was on the street side and Porto is busy. So a lot of traffic passing by, honking cars and in the weekend some yelling youth. But I didn’t bother because of the earplugs. It wasn’t expensive so I didn’t expect a five star stay. The only negative I found was the mattress of the room I stayed in. This was ready for replacement. On the eye it looks fine but if you were laying on the bed for a couple of minutes you disappeared in it like a canyon until you reach the bottom. But luckily it I was on a solo trip so I could roam around the two person bed to make it somewhat comfortable. Not to far of a walk from the centre so perfect for my visit.
These hotels offer something a little different in the way of design and usually sit in a trendy, urban part of town. More intimate than your average hotel, they offer high standards with a homely vibe.
The house and grounds are lovely, a little bit of country in the suburbs. Flavia the hostess was charming and ran through things with us. It's easy to access Porto from the station a ten minute walk away. There are restaurants nearby, which are excellent. Also there is a big supermarket within walking distance. Loved this place, the perfect place from which to visit Porto. We would certainly return.
Good budget hotel near the city of Porto, free parking. Great option for those traveling by car.
