Avondrood is a small Cape Victorian-style guest house in the historical part of Franschhoek.

Amazing people hosting us in a great place. Unbelievable hospitality, honesty bar with great selection. Breakfast buffet was so good that we never made it to the warm breakfast options. All ingredients are local, the selection just amazing. The rooms are spacious, clean, everything u need is there and minibar stacked with good options for a decent price. But the staff is the best - this is what moves it from wonderful to perfect at this place. Thanks for an unforgettable experience!

Incredible hospitality and people (a special thank you to Gale who couldn’t have done more to ensure I had a good stay), stunning accommodation in a breathtakingly beautiful location and to top it off, superb wines and MCCs :) I also loved hiking the trails, which have been so thoughtfully designed to enable you to experience and enjoy the diversity of your surroundings. For the bird lovers, pack binoculars - there is plenty to see. I can wholeheartedly recommend Plaisir!

From 1st moment we felt at home. Gale and the entire crew do everything to make the stay as comfortable as possible. The 2 bed studio was perfect for our stay, very nice, fully equipped, cosy with a typical lovely country style. Stunning view from the front terrace with the 1st coffee in the morning. The Wine tasting area is very beautiful same as the farm store where one could order delicious small snacks. The whole set up is a typical, traditional South African Wine Estate. We loved this place and will be back!

What a beautiful place to stay. The rooms were amazing and the views onto the vineyard were stunning. We enjoyed wine tasting, with an amazing cheese & meat platter. There’s a lovely pool and bar area too. Staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Everything about our stay here was just fantastic. Would definitely go back.

Absolutely beautiful location. The property was just stunning with fireplaces in every room, high ceilings and beautifully decorated. Very peaceful and private and the suite was cleaned every day which was lovely to come home to. We had a beautiful wine tasting at the tasting room which in itself was such a beautiful big room. We’ve stayed at a few places in Franschoek but Plaisir was truly magical.
