Newly built in 2014, The Passage in Basel is a centrally located design hotel featuring a sauna, a fitness centre, free WiFi access and air-conditioned rooms. Its location is good, there’s a paid parking in front of the hotel, and in 5 minutes there’s a bus/tram stop which was complementary. Not sure it was given by the hotel or by the government though. The room was spacious, light, well decorated and clean. The soap, shampoo and cream were from Loccitane. We were given the patio rooms which was very quiet.

The Hotel Alexander is located right at the Messe Basel fairgrounds and the Congress Centre, a 7-minute ride from the centre of Basel. The tram stop is right outside. Free Wi-Fi is available. Staff friendly and responsible. It’s clean, location is good.

The Wettstein hotel is located in a central residential quarter of Basel, 200 metres from the Rhine river, and offers you garage parking, free Wi-Fi and a free internet station. A really nice hotel, very comfortable bed with quality bed sheets and all the toilerty necessary for a pleasant stay.

Was really spacious and comfortable. Breakfast I rated as good. Love the fresh orange juice, the quality of the bread and pastries. As a vegetarian I missed some options, to replace the cold cuts and some fresh vegetables would have been nice.

The Central City Hotel Rochat is housed in a historic, listed building in the old town of Basel. It is simple, but has everything needed, great location, nice staff, super value for money.

The family-run GAIA Hotel Basel can be found right across from Basel Main Train Station, only a 10-minute walk from the historic city centre. The staff were extremely wonderful & friendly. Very willing to go the extra mile to make our stay fabulous! We were able to check in an hour early & they allowed us to check out 2 & a half hours late. It was so hot out they offered us water bottles every time we passed the desk. Even for our two dogs! Who they treated like royalty with a mat & dog bowls in the room. The free mini bar was awesome! We were so hot when we arrived, it was awesome to have cold water, juice & beer in the room to drink. The free public transportation access, 50% off to museums & 20CHF electric bike rentals were also wonderful perks! I wish we had stayed more than one night!
