All rooms have a private toilet, and some have shared bathroom facilities. Great, spacious room, friendly staff, beautiful view of the sea. We arrived a little early but they were happy to let us check in early. The room was comfortable too, and the hotel is very central on the island.

This accommodation was gorgeous and spacious. Our room had a lovely view. The futons were very comfortable and even though it was really cold outside, we were warm in our room. There was curry provided for dinner and it was lovely. We were lucky as the restaurants closed early there.

The location was beautiful and it’s very close to the walking path to Miyajima Ropeway. Upon arrival, they gave us a list of restaurants open late at night, which was very helpful! I only stayed one night but wished I stayed for two!

Oyado Tsukiusagi is set in Miyajima, 600 metres from Five Storey Pagoda, 800 metres from Itsukushima Shrine, as well as 1.3 km from Daisho-in Temple. It is located 2.4 km from Tsutsumigaura Beach and provides luggage storage space. Itsukushima Shrine Treasure Hall is less than 1 km from the ryokan and Shiraito Falls is a 17-minute walk away. 厳島いろは is located in Miyajima’s Omotesando Avenue, a 5-minute walk from Itsukushima Shinto Shrine and Miyajima Pier. The hotel offers a restaurant and Japanese-style rooms with free wired internet access.

The stylish rooms at 厳島いろは feature tatami-mat flooring and private bathrooms. Amenities include a flat-screen TV and DVD player. Our room was incredible. It was one of our favorite rooms we stayed in during our two weeks travelling across Japan. It had so much character and beauty, from the tatami matt flooring, paper screen doors, beautiful wooden flooring in the bathroom, and bamboo weaving on the ceiling banisters. In our room, we had a fine view of the bustling streets of Miyajima. It was a great view for people watching as tourists and locals visited stores and restaurants. The dinner was great, made with fresh ingredients. It was no doubt one of the best dinners we had in Japan. It consisted of multiple courses, and you were able to choose preferences for each course. This was a nice surprise, as we had stayed in another ryokan in Hakone a few days prior that did not offer a selection for the courses. The sashimi was super fresh, and the pork tonkotsu was terrific.

Washington Hotel Hiroshima is a 15-minute walk from Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park and 20-minute walk from Hiroshima Castle. Hiroshima Museum of Contemporary Art is a 10-minute drive away. The property offers easy access to multiple shops and restaurants nearby. It had a great location, and staff were helpful, rooms were clean, and definitely good value for money! Super near and convenient for the shopping areas behind the hotel.

Overlooking the Seto Inland Sea, Grand Prince Hotel is located a 15-minute drive from central Hiroshima. The hotel offers 5 dining options, a outdoor pool (only summer) and hot spring baths. The hotel is featured in Michelin Green Guide Japan 2013. A free shuttle is available from Hiroshima Station, a 30-minute ride away. The reception area is large and impressive. My room was a good size, especially as I was a single occupant, and had a sea view looking over the many islands in the area. The breakfast selection was varied and very good, catering to most tastes, and the views from the top floor restaurant are stunning. The high speed ferry pontoon is right outside the hotel. We pre-booked tickets to Miyajama in the hotel for the next day for the 20 minutes journey. We knew at the time of booking it was a little out of the city centre but we’re happy with the choice for the tranquility and sea views. There is a free shuttle bus to and from Hiroshima station and taxi fares were very reasonable. A walk from the ferry pontoon along the sea takes around 45-60 minutes to complete depending on walking speed and return route. I walked back the way I came to enjoy the sea and island views.
