We visited the Rozafa castle which is very impressive.
We visited the Rozafa castle which is very impressive. Took the Komani ferry - great experience. Ate twice in the Rozafa Fish restaurant - delicious food, very friendly and helpful waiters who helped us select the fresh fish for dinner. A generation ago the roads in Albania were sufficient for the then current traffic. Apart from some new motorways being built nearer to Tirana there appears to have been no major road improvements in the Shkoder area over the next generation - however the number of cars using the roads has risen dramatically until the roads are clogged at any major traffic intersection. There is a two-lane bridge (one lane each way) over the river Buna into Shkoder being fed by two major roads - we were in a 2-hour queue to get onto this bridge!! Drivers be aware of the length of delays (for no apparent reason) at any major road intersection. Shkoder's main (probably only) sites of interest are: Sheshi or Kole Idromeno Street; Rozafa Castle; Ebu Bekr Mosque; and 5 kms outside the city is Mesi (stone) Bridge.Guest review byGraemeUnited Kingdom

The room was big, very comfortable bed and lovely bathroom. Joseph and his wife were very welcoming and were so helpful with all our questions. We wanted to hire a car so he brought my husband to a local car rental place close by. Breakfast was included and we got the best croissants in Albania! He was a pastry chef in France for many years.
