I enjoyed chatting with the locals & learning about their town.
There are three pubs - Bentley's , the Middle Pub (Clare) and Taminga.
Bentley's has good value meals according to the locals. It also has string women running the bar, local DJs, a juke box and a woman that literally "curled me".
Middle Pub is more chill. You can play pool, the pokies or just sit at the bar and watch the world 🌎 go by.
I ate a 🥪 at Perry's a combination of a service station & a convenience store.
I ate at a OTR - also excellent - the beef traveller pie & Farmers Union milk is always a good bet. Or even just milk - full cream!
It is easy to get around Clare - I arrived on the bus from Franklin Street in Adelaide. I goes about 4 times a week, full of country kids going home for Easter 🐣
It seemed expensive at $50 but it was clean, safe and the driver was careful.
The town has well maintained footpaths & street lighting so I felt safe travelling solo. A kind man walked me back to my unit behind the Catholic church.
We also stopped near the park near the churches & chatted to some locals about life.
Great activities include the Riesling trail, you can hire a bike, exploring the art galleries, grabbing a bargain in the shops on North Main Road, delving into history.
Plenty left for me to do in future visits.

Clare is the major town in the area but lacks ambience compared to other smaller towns such as Burra.
The wineries do themselves no favours when they charge large amounts for wine tasting without any credit when wine is purchased e.g. Wirra Wirra charges $15-$110pp.

The longer we stayed the more the area opened up to us.
The longer we stayed the more the area opened up to us. So much to see and enjoy. A big thank you to the staff at the Clare info Centre who helped plan for us some excellent sightseeing and experiences. Bungaree Station was a highlight. We loved the atmosphere and view at Paulette’s and the hospitality and charm at Skillogalee.

It is a nice historic town and the centre of a quality wine region - we loved Sevenhills. The town has everything you need with lots of individual restaurants and cafes. Tourist information were very helpful.

The location of the cottage was excellent, nestled in the heart of the Clare Valley wine region.
One of the highlights of our stay was the outdoor areas of the cottage. There was a lovely outdoor BBQ area and fire pit which was perfect for enjoying a glass of wine or two in front of a warm fire. The cozy fire on arrival was much appreciated!
Clare Central is a 20+ year old motel that has been upgraded and modernised in the recent past. The motel is very close to the Main Street and Clare township is walkable from the hotel.
Rooms are well maintained and clean with good bedding , linen and towels, working Wi-Fi and a quiet a/c.
Self check-in was efficient and easy.
A lovely house to stay for 3 nights in Clare. The bedrooms had king beds, very comfortable. Nicely renovated and decorated . Continental breakfast pus bacon and eggs available was a nice treat. House is close to restaurants and shops, very quiet area at night. Towels and linen were first class.
Historic property just outside Clare, very lovely host who gave us heaps of information and recommendations about the property and the local area. Gorgeous gardens and walks and very good coffee and breakfast supplies.
