Boasting cottages and holiday cabins with cooking facilities, Discovery Parks - Cradle Mountain is just 800 metres from The Wilderness Gallery. Guests have access to laundry and BBQ facilities.

It is a good place to stay on Cradle Mountain, very close to the visitors centre and the Cradle Mountain Devil Park, each cabin feels secluded in the bush setting. I was lucky to have a pademelon come and sit right next to me while I was sitting on the steps of our cabin.

Set in Moina, 33 km from Dove Lake, Cradle forest inn offers accommodation with a garden, free private parking and a terrace. Guests can enjoy garden views.

Cozy log cabin with all facilities needed except limited internet connection. Short drive to Cradle Mountain to enjoy the walks there. Expected there would be nowhere to eat but found there is now a lovely cafe across the road.

Set within 34 km of Dove Lake in Moina, Cradle Alpine Retreat offers accommodation with seating area. There is a private entrance at the bed and breakfast for the convenience of those who stay.

Our cabin was spacious, clean, well equipped, and situated in a park like setting. It was in a good location with reasonable access to many attractions. We had trouble with our TV on arrival, and Shepherd went out of his way to solve the problem.

The national park facilities are fabulous.

The national park facilities are fabulous. The Dove Lake circuit walk was beautiful. Some sections on the walk though were tricky especially for those perhaps not so agile. Lots of steps with some step and narrow. Not bad enough to not get through it but just be wary that it is not all flat. The second walk up to Lilla Lake and the Wombat Pool were also beautiful with also some tricky bits on the track. But the return trip from the Wombat Pool (if you are not continuing on) reveals a stunning view of both Lilla Lake and Dove Lake behind it. Didn’t notice it on the way up only on the return. The walks are very rewarding. A real wilderness adventure. But remember the sunscreen and a small first aid kit for any little mishaps on the way. We had a very clear, stable weather day but the weather can change in an instant so just be prepared for a cold change even if it’s a sunny start. The shuttle buses from the visitor centre to Dove Lake ran every 10-15 minutes and were very efficient. If you want to have a break between a couple of walks, the visitor centre has a very good cafe and easily accessible to have lunch then return on a shuttle bus to one of the stops to continue. There are clean toilet facilities and water refilling stations at the different stops in the park. Cradle Mountain is beautiful

Great hikes, well signed trails, beautiful scenery and waterfalls, clean air and wildlife. Did the Dove Lake Circuit, Wombat Pool and Crater Lake all amazing. We ate at Hellyers Restaurant one night which was absolutely delicious. Highly recommended and the two other nights at Cradle Mountain Lodge which had traditional pub fare but very well done. Very Cosy atmosphere with great fireplaces.

We are a couple of seniors who enjoy natural environments but cannot walk far. The Shuttle bus service and graded walks were marvelous. we got to see the sites we wanted to and wildlife too. We recommend the Dove Lake short walks, although there are some steps and Ronny Creek for a picnic. Peppers Lodge has a bar where you buy pizzas or other lunch items and also see wombats or echidnas outside. Bring layers of clothes with wet weather gear, good footwear and walking poles to keep your balance on uneven surfaces. During our two days in February we experienced high winds, freezing rain, mist and brilliant sunshine.

    - An amazing place with interesting fauna, flora, and of course rock formations. - The buses run smoothly from the visitor centre into and throughout the park to save on traffic. - A number of options for walks with little kids. - Expensive food in the accommodation or tavern, we brought our food with us for much of our needs to reduce cost. - The 'Devils at Cradle' guide was very experienced and we enjoyed learning from him and watching the devils in the sanctuary.

Peppers Cradle Mountain Lodge is the more expensive but premier accommodation at the Cradle Mountains. It's idyllic setting in the wilderness means that at dusk and dawn, you will see free-ranging wombats and padymelons outside your room.
