Located on a tropical island in Great Barrier Reef Marine Park, Fitzroy Island Resort is located between the beach and the rainforest. Cairns is 45 minutes away by ferry.

Fitzroy Island is a great destination. It is relaxing and there is plenty to do. Foxy's bar is a great spot for a pub meal and a drink. Our room was good but it is hard to know what facilities you may have in your 1 bedroom apartment. We had a full kitchen and larger fridge but the dishwasher was missing. We have stayed in a similar room about a decade ago and it was better presented. Snorkelling was great fun with a great diversity of fishes and regenerating coral.

very nice island for diving and snorkeling just out of Cairns. The island is in a seagrass meadow, meaning the snorkeling can either be coral based (near the end of the jetty or by boat access from dive shop) or sea grass based (from shore) - this means turtles! Birdwatching is great early in the morning or late at night - so recommend staying there so that you have the opportunity to see and hear them before the island is full of guests. if day tripping, remember that you can walk all the way around the island to find other beaches, rather than just sticking to the jetty. Far side of island is a shallow seagrass plain, so unless you are into strange invertebrates, stick to the deeper side.
