A selection of outstanding museums in the context of a beautifully preserved historic town. The main street is delightful to walk along. Lots of wineries nearby to sample. The Pioneers Museum is interesting & extensive, even though there's a fair amount of repetition. The Holtermann Collection is well worth seeing. The 2 pubs we frequented (Centennial & Prince of Wales) had a good atmosphere & reasonable food. There's a good Thai restaurant for variety. Restaurants & pubs surprisingly busy for a country town. A small historic village that has maintained its historic feel and look, yet offers all amenities that I needed. Plenty of places to eat and sip a coffee. We enjoyed a night at the Post Office Hotel - live music (not too intrusive) ,, lively atmosphere , really well cooked meal and, best of all, friendly, efficient staff.
