Hydro Majestic is a true gem! The hotel has a great location, just a few minutes from Katoomba Centre, making it the perfect base for exploring the area. The breakfast, served with a breathtaking view of the valley, is a real treat – both for the taste buds and the eyes! The staff was very friendly and helpful, which made the stay even more enjoyable. I highly recommend this place for a relaxing getaway!
Boasting a garden and views of garden, The Chalet Guesthouse And Studio is a guest house set in a historic building in Medlow Bath, 10 km from Three Sisters Cable Car.

This is an older building but is kept very tidy and is very cozy. David was an excellent host, very accommodating to our needs and providing a general welcoming atmosphere throughout our stay. The included breakfast was a nice standard continental with paid options for hot alternatives. The best part of breakfast was the King Parrots being fed right outside the dining room window (ask the host what time they are fed to catch this). David was also very accommodating in cases of eating an earlier breakfast on the mornings we wanted to get up quite early. The rooms were also older but warm enough during cooler evenings and with a bed comfy enough to rest in after a long day of walking. Good water pressure and plenty of hot water in the shower. The location is a short drive to Katoomba, walks, lookouts and scenic world so this suited us fine. The final cherry on top was the extra Easter goodies gifted to us over our Easter weekend stay. We left very satisfied (in large part to our host, David).
Perched on the edge of a ridge, 300 metres from the heart of Katoomba’s town centre, this 4.5-star hotel offers panoramic views of the World Heritage Blue Mountains.

Bedrooms were beautiful and spacious and beds/pillows were very comfortable. Reception staff, Whiskey bar staff and Embers Grill staff were very pleasant. Cocktail at Whiskey bar was excellent, buffet breakfast was good. Gardens are lovely.

It was close to the areas we wanted to visit but the distance from them also ensured it was a quiet neighbourhood. It was only a 10 minute drive south to Katoomba/Leura and 5-10 minutes drive north to Blackheath. There were plenty of food options within a short distance and we discovered the lovely Potbelly in Medlow Bath that had really tasty meals.

Mellow Bath is in the throws of a very large roadwork plan.
Mellow Bath is in the throws of a very large roadwork plan. We came here last year and it seemed as if nothing has progressed! The traffic chaos here is not good and can’t be good for the local businesses.

Rustic but elegant is what I would describe the decor and feel of Sable Mae. With all the modern amenities you would expect to find and more. Comfortable beds, dining chairs and lounge. Free wifi and streaming tv services and twin Sonos Bluetooth speakers for your Spotify playlist. There is air conditioning and a gas fireplace in the living room and every room has a heater as well so winter won’t be a problem. A big bathtub in the main bathroom is a treat .My kids loved the fire pit and hand feeding the most beautiful parrots that came right to our door and then our hands.

This is one of many lovely suburbs to stay in the Blue Mountains.
Medlow Bath has a railway station, so you could easily walk to the accommodation at The Chalet and Guesthouse we just reviewed, or to the much more expensive Hydro Majestic. The Hydro has a nice cafe and a lovely outlook. And the tour of the hotel is great! But there are other alternatives for accommodation.

The Winter Garden Restaurant was excellent, we had two evening meals and a High Tea during our stay. We were disappointed The Boiler Room restaurant is only open for lunch and the Asian restaurant hasn't reopened since Covid 19 lockdown. Atmosphere is very good and lounges comfortable for reading and reflecting. History of the Hydro Majestic detailed in the Pavillion was interesting and some pleasant drives in and around the area. Rooms were comfortable and very clean and great pillows.

It's a beautiful hotel and we have been past it 2 or 3 times every going to Bathurst but never stayed. Stopped once for a coffee and was intrigued by its history. Glad we finally stayed but check in staff don't make you feel warm and fuzzy. Having to drag your bag up 3 lots of stairs was a bit ordinary. Ok for me but I am sure some people would struggle with that.
It reminded me of the titanic segregated by class. Quite an experience but one we have wanted to do.
Breakfast was good but would be good to include at least one Barista coffee. Staff were helpful. Would be good if there was a walking track from the hotel.
