Whether you're into history, wildlife, or just enjoying the great outdoors, St Helens has something for everyone. Rainforest walks to waterfalls. This small town has a real vibe about it.
This small town has a real vibe about it. Most people transit through but it's really worth a stop as there are great walks along the coast and birdlife to look for.. we saw sea eagles and pelicans, as well as lots of other sea birds. The great short walk of Tasmania is only $5.00 and is well worth buying as they have walks for everyone across Tasmania. The supermarkets are good (better than most of NZ!) and the Tourist information staff were very helpful. Lots of cafes and qwerty places to eat too. St Helens is a lovely town, though the shortage of any public facilities was glaring, with the only public toilets available that we could find being down in the car-park area on the water near the fish & chip shop.
