On arrival I was asked if I would prefer a ground floor room, I assume due to my use of a cane, I said yes I was charged extra. From the conversation I assumed I was being offered an upgrade due to my disability, Our new room was a good size the bed was comfortable and the sheets were of good quality. The balcony furniture was old and not fit for purpose. The kitchen area was fine, tea, coffee and sugar was one of each per person which I think is stingy, no bottled water is provided. The bathroom was adequate the water pressure was good. I'd been told by a friend that 4 million had recently been spent on the hotel. Maybe on the bar area but not on the rooms. My room didn't even have a proper wardrobe it was a cheap melamine cupboard without a door, there were no drawers. The room is OK for a couple of nights but a holiday family room it isn't. I know it's fashionable to take up the carpets and expose the old wooden floors, shabby chique! But to simply rip out the carpets and then not clean or sand the floor is I agree shabby but its definitely not chique. That's the first thing that hit me when I walked into the lobby, dirty unwashed looking floorboards from the 1890's lead not to a modern welcoming foyer-desk but to a hole in the wall a glass window, country pub style 1970. Behind which a receptionist sitting. The entry to the hotel looks more like a down beat Centrelink than a four star hotel. I asked about breakfast, put simply, there isnt any despite the hotel having a large dinning room and a modern kitchen. Two croissants and some muesli are provided in the room this is the only option take it or leave it. I had to ask for more butter and jam as only one small pat and one small jam had been left in the fridge. I would describe the hotel as utilitarian - three star. Four star - hardly, five star a long way off.

The room (apartment with kitchenette, two balconies and sitting area) was well laid out, the lighting was good. We could choose whether to eat our breakfast inside or on the sunny front or shady back balcony because there were three tables with chairs. There were plenty of power points too.
Just 10 minutes’ walk from Narooma Beach, Coastal Comfort Motel offers studios with access to a shared balcony overlooking the ocean. The motel features free Wi-Fi and barbecue facilities.
