Unfortunately, the Town is obviously struggling with the Steel Plant issues and the Trades and others I spoke with on this trip were very negative about the current and future prospects of Whyalla. The Town in my opinion needs a Birthday. Looking very sad unfortunately. I wasn't working at the Steel Works on this visit, wasn't remotely connected to Industry in Whyalla or surrounding areas. it was in the Whyalla CBD. I visit Whyalla at least once per year.

I drove to Whyalla to scuba dive with the cuttlefish; highly recommended!! The cuttlefish season is from May to August, there is nothing like it anywhere else in the world. The water is shallow so you can see the cuttlefish easily by snorkeling or taking a glass bottom boat.

Whyalla is a very different town.

Whyalla is a very different town. The hospital is extremely understaffed and can not cope with an emergency, also learned you can not give birth there. Very hard to find a good place to eat. Very small town so no vibe to it. The beach is covered in seaweed so not accessible for swimming. Was going to spend two nights there but one was enough. Couldn’t wait to leave, sorry Whyalla.

It was lovely to be given a cabin overlooking the sea at the Discovery park. Book one of these if you stay here. Great value. Staff were welcoming and helpful. The cabin had everything we needed. The view from the look out was amazing. The round pier was great to walk on. Lots of shops and services in town.

Being born and bred in Whyalla returning to my home town and show my kids a grandkids around was wonderful there were lots of places to visit like hummock hill, my old school then the Whyalla show and HMAS Whyalla. Perfect stay lots of places to eat but we enjoyed the bbq down the beach in the rain. And home made rolls at hummock hill. Dolphins pelicans and seagulls galore.

Staff were amazing. We arrived to advice there had been a mix up with our booking, but the motel had already resolved the issue & booked us into the lovely motel rooms behind the nearby pub with the motel picking up the difference in cost during this busy weekend in Whyalla. We were sorry to not be able to complete our stay where we booked, but really appreciated the fab service.

Excellent stay, wide spacious room with a very comfortable bed, outstanding bathroom and shower facilities. The Continental Breakfast was a pleasant surprise which we did not know was included in our booking. Very secure location. Highly rate our experience in Whyalla.

The units are well located and a short walk to the adjacent hotel for an excellent bistro meal. It was very peaceful at night even though it is situated on the Lincoln Highway surprisingly there was no traffic noise to disturb sleep.
