Though Campos do Jordão is located in the country of ever-lasting summers and lush jungles, the town is better known as a winter paradise. Its secret resides in its altitude of 1600 metres, which makes it the highest in Brazil, and therefore one of the coldest. Once you’ll be surrounded by Alpine architecture and tempting local chocolate, you’ll be amazed by this beautiful place.
The first settlement was established during the second half of the 19th century, and the dry and cold weather was quickly appreciated to treat lung problems. The later progress of medicine transformed it from health resort into a laid-back winter retreat. Nowadays, Campos de Jordão offers a large variety of hotels and is the preferred winter destination in the country.
Known as the ‘Brazilian Switzerland’, the winter temperatures below zero make it the national capital of fireplaces and warm food. Apart from the chic private winter residences, charming Swiss-style hotels and cosy ‘pousadas’ are available throughout Campos do Jordão. The surroundings of the Capivari Square are particularly popular.
The closest airport is São Paulo’s Guarulhos International Airport, and the town can be reached following the Carvalho Pinto Governor motorway. Before travelling, check out the Campos do Jordão’s hotel deals on Booking.com!

Been traveling to Campos do Jordão since childhood and I love it clean ir, nature and quietness compared to big cities. Campos is now busier with more food and stay options but is still cozy to visit, has some accessibility built over common public spaces and new attractions near centre and around the town.

If you like quiet luxury with exceptional service (shout out to Bruno who was amazing), this is your place. Free parking in a safe gated courtyard. Lovely grounds to walk around. A great location above the hustle and bustle of the city. Recommend eating at Confraria do Sabor in town. Great food and exceptional wine list! I would avoid going on a Saturday. Too crowded in town.

The city is very pretty with lots of restaurants and shops.
The city is very pretty with lots of restaurants and shops. The weather was perfect; on the cool side. The architecture is very European like. Lots of flowers adding colors everywhere. We were kind of upset by the number of people coming up to us offering tours and outings. They can be very insistent and annoying. We were not lucky with our choice of a place to stay but we saw some very pretty and inviting hotels in city.

It's a pleasant city, although a little too touristy in relation to some of the other nearby cities that seem to be more "authentic" places. Lots of restaurants are somewhat pricey and since my wife is vegan and I'm vegetarian our options were restricted, though there is one vegan restaurant in the city (which I thought had the potential to be very good but it wasn't meeting its potential). There are some very nice parks near the city. One of those parks, Amantikir Park, is a little expensive, but it's well worth the visit. Parque Estadual Campos do Jordão had nice hiking trails. We weren't in the city at its busiest period -- it seems like it might be too crowded in June and July. I would suggest going there off-season, though I have heard that the music festival in July is nice.

Extraordinary views of Serra da Mantiqueira.
Extraordinary views of Serra da Mantiqueira. Great restaurant options in Vila Capivari. Don’t miss Horto Florestal, Pico do Itapeva, Amantikir. Bring your own wine as restaurants overpricre all labels, even cheap wines.

This Hotel and Staff are memorable for all good reasons. Great Service, facilities and location. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The standard offering of Breakfast was good, but usually have eggs as part of our breakfast. This was no problem at all and swiftly arranged. They even have a complimentary minivan service to take people to the centre of town. Yes it's a small hill, but we enjoyed the exercise.
Location and breakfast were fantastic! Staff very friendly and willing to help. Definitely recommend this Hotel! Also, I was there celebrating my birthday, and found a beautiful surprise in my room!
