This harbor-view Nanaimo hotel, located on Vancouver Island, is about 3.4 miles from the Departure Bay Ferry Terminal and 6.2 miles from the Duke Point Ferry Terminal.

Very noisy during the night from above floor and from dump trucks in parking lot on one side of building.

Boasting rooms with ocean or city views, Coast Bastion Hotel in Nanaimo city center is 2 minutes’ walk to shops and restaurants on Harbourfront Walkway. A restaurant is located on site.

Everything was good, parking situation in regard to checking in before paying needs to be made more obvious. Loved the view but windows need to be cleaner!

I stayed at Travelodge by Wyndham Nanaimo for two nights and three days, and I was extremely satisfied with my stay. I especially want to thank the lady at the reception—unfortunately, I can’t remember her name, and I truly regret that—but she was incredibly helpful. She recommended great places to visit and wonderful spots to eat, which really made my trip special. The rooms were very clean and comfortable; I felt right at home. The hotel’s central location was also a big plus—many places were within walking distance. If I ever come back to Nanaimo, I will definitely stay here again!

    Getting around was easy.

Getting around was easy. We ate at O'Bryan's and The View- both highly recommend. We went to Duncan, people were friendly and full of information. Visited Qualicum beach and Pipers Lagoon - beautiful.

Nanaimo is ok but there are much nicer places to stay on Vancouver Island. There is a lot of homelessness and not as much to do here as elsewhere. It was a rest stop before an early ferry. We had a nice meal at The View and got to try the famous Nanimo bar from Red's but we liked Campbell River a lot more.

The list is endless for hikes and beaches around Nanaimo.

The list is endless for hikes and beaches around Nanaimo. They have many great restaurants. We have not found a big supply of hotels in the downtown area that we love, but there are some average ones. Fun and relaxing town!

There are some seedy sections of Nanaimo.

There are some seedy sections of Nanaimo. Rough areas to avoid. We did find a rejuvinated section of the city which was beautifil with cute shops and restaurants. Lights strung at night. We dined there at an absolutely lovely greek restaurant called Asteras. Anyone visiting Nanimo needs to go there! We had the feeling of being in a different country. Excellent food & service!

I live near Nanaimo. Why would one come to Nanaimo?

I live near Nanaimo. Why would one come to Nanaimo? We do for the shopping. Maybe to the inner harbour and walk the boardwalk, have lunch, go whale watching or take a scenic float plane ride. More likely Nanaimo is just a starting point to visiting elsewhere on the island. The island is mainly about the outdoors.

    Nanaimo is a great city.

Nanaimo is a great city. Has incredible views of the bay and mountain range. Very friendly people. I happened upon a lovely kitchen store, Maison Cookware & Bakeware, that has an incredible selection of quality kitchenware. I spent some time talking to the owner, Julia House. She was a wealth of information on everything in her store. She said they will soon be opening a tableware store in the same complex. Definitely a stop for every cook!

Great location, in a safer part of town. Very close to the ferry, pretty clean and great value for the money. Keycode entry makes checking in and out a breeze Recently renovated and it shows! Without knowing what's on the other side of your door(the roadway), you could think you're in a 4 star hotel! We will definitely choose this motel for our next stay in Nanaimo!

It felt personal and not like other “chain” hotels, I liked the hotel and the price fair for the region . I would recommend to any travellers passing through or staying in Nanaimo.
