Whistler is a busy place but very walkable.
Whistler is a busy place but very walkable.
The mountain itself is obviously massive and with good snow its easy to see why its rated # 1 often. The skiing experience is slightly spoiled by the speed at which skiers come down the hill. Most bad accidents happen on intermediate slopes, and we saw some very bad collisions.
The ski shops are great and the staff are all friendly but one of the recurrent themes is that no-one seems to like the owners Vail Resorts very much as in, not at all.
The ski rentals are ridiculously expensive, such that if you are there for more than 5 days it would pay you to buy skis.
The season passes are exceptionally good value. However, if you don't get in quick and get a season pass and you are stuck paying on a day-to-day basis then you're paying C$300 a day which is nothing less than highway robbery.
There are some nice restaurants, I would recommend Earls which serves meals until 11pm or Sushi Village.
The lifts don't seem to be well maintained, the Whistler gondola always broke down when we were on it but I'd rather have that problem than the gondola detaching like at Kicking Horse in Colorado!

Vancouver was amazing, the sea to ski drive to whistler unmatched in beauty; the village was unlike any other, shopping was great, food was incredible. ski and ski out was amazing. Only negative was the dense fog in the middle of the mountain, that made skiing difficult at times, as visibility was poor. Unlimited amazing hiking/site seeing opportunities throughout.

It is very easy to move around the village, and there is quick and direct access to the mountain. There are also many different terrains and places to stop and have some food and drinks. People were extraordinarily kind and helpful.

Extensive terrain for all levels of ability. Won't get repetitive for a week of skiing. Restaurants and bars are a bit pricey but offer good variety.
Decent discounts at the shops if you are in the market for new equipment.

My biggest regret was not being informed of the New Epic pass to be bought before the 1st December the previous year, even though we ourselves booked our stay in August of that year. Only to find we could only buy lift passes by the day. No half days and no concessions. A family of 4 for a week ski-pass will set you back £3.220, which left a bitter taste in your mouth. Vale reports you should be ashamed as a company. so much so! we wont be using your sites in the USA Canada or Switzerland again..

For a skiing holiday, this hotel is ideally located, but during the summer, it's a little off the beaten track. That being said, there is a free shuttle bus to the upper / central village.
The hotel itself is clean and all the staff we had dealings with were very polite and helpful. Parking is a little expensive at $25 per day but maybe that's the going rate for Whistler. Still, it's handy the car being readily available.
Easy check-in and check-out from very friendly staff. The Hotel is located just a few metres from Village Stroll, the pedestrian route through the heart of Whistler Village. The room was great, and larger than we expected, or have experienced in similar hotels. The view from the balcony may not have been of the mountains, but it was a pleasant surprise to look out over a small wooded area, not just buildings!
A very comfortable hotel with a lovely pool area. We were a family of 5 in a 2 bed suite, which we found spacious, clean and comfortable.
Excellent showers and Aveda toiletries.
Staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful.
The location is ideal for families on the edge of the village centre. It is away from the parties and noise of the mountainside but still a short walking distance from everywhere.
