Chillán is highly underrated.
Chillán is highly underrated. I love visiting the Mexican murals in the Escuela de México, seeing the Cathedral, walking through the vegetable and artesan markets, and eating in the Mercado Municipal. Eat at Cocinería Carmencita, they have amazing Chilean dishes! Also, if you crave a good coffee, and especially if you are gluten free, go to Cafetería Limarí. There are lots of things to do within 5 minutes walking distance (theatre, shopping malls, main square, the cathedral, museums, restaurants, etc.). The restaurant in the hotel has a great selection of local dishes (longanizas, pastries, etc.) as well international options (pasta, risotto, etc.). There is a coffee house with a great selection of cakes (freshly made) and "tablas" for sharing. My room was perfectly clean and tidy, which was great for relaxing after a fun day in the thermal waters of Chillán. I even woke up late for breakfast on my final day and they were kind enough to offer me some cereal, yogurt, and desserts.
