Someone has put a lot of thought into this hotel: the ecology, security, the quality of food at dinner, creating a relaxed, friendly reception, with spaces to relax and socialize if you wish. The mattress was very comfortable and the room was not too cold or too warm. La Casa de Don Tomás is close enough to walk to the center of San Pedro yet far enough away that it is very quiet and peaceful at night. I was surprised and pleased by the quality of the dinner service. I had laundry done while I was there and it came back within 24 hours clean, pressed, and the fee was reasonable unlike in many hotels. The swimming pool is physically separated from the main property by a short walk but that is beneficial because it keeps the rooms quieter as there is less noise. There is a beautiful space to lounge under the shade of old trees just off the main courtyard and many guests enjoy relaxing there. The maintenance crew seems very diligent.
Located in San Pedro de Atacama, 5 mi from Piedra del Coyote, Hotel Desertica has a garden, as well as free WiFi.

The hotel is clean, breakfast is hygienic but I found this place not a good value for money and low on utility. The price we paid for the room and the value we received, surely don’t make sense.
It was nice that they gave a small Chilean lady (a souvenir) and sippers to carry waters in room and by principle, they want to keep the customers happy. However, there was lack in brain & heart and behaviour of most of the staffs were too cold.
Few clear elements of discomfort which I would like to highlight :
1) WIFI almost doesn’t work or even it works sometimes, it’s too slow and nothing can be done. You cannot even stream a video in that speed.
2) The rooms look good but there is no proper wardrobe or table. Even if you order 2 dishes from room service, there is no space to keep those. Nice look but functionally ineffective.. No refrigerator or minibar. No tea coffee kettle.
3) The people in reception(I interacted with two gentlemen) are positive, but the restaurant waiters are too cold. They never smile. Exception was Francisca, who was there only for one evening during my 4 days stay. Other waitresses are too cold and always give you a not-so-welcome feeling. I was too uncomfortable with their gesture
3) I ordered food at room many times and most dishes are around 19-20 USD per portion and I wanted some chopped onions & chillis on the side, and was surprised (while check out) to see for a salsa on side they charged 5 USD for each request.
4) I think it’s better to send the bill along with the room service and get it signed by the guest rather than giving a surprise on check out
5) water flow in basin and bathing space are slow and it clogs and take time to pass out
6) After staying 4 days, I requested for just one hour late check out and they didn’t accommodate that. I have never seen such non-supportive behaviour in any hotel of this standard.

The room was clean and nice. Bathroom was small (shower especially pokey) but everything was OK.
Breakfast was good - both when they made us a packed one to go up to El Tatio and when we ate in the restaurant.
Communication wasn't easy - no one spoke English at the hotel.
The space was nice with a big, bright courtyard and a small pool. Close to all the action - a short walk into town (like 5 minutes) and a quick drive to Valle de la Luna etc.

Excellent stay just outside town. Best part - the views of the Andes from our room! The owners are super-friendly, instantly responded to our enquiries through Whatsapp (though you'll have to translate from Spanish if you don't speak it). The room was very comfortable and everything is brand new (you probably won't find it on GoogleMap yet). Nice bed and linens, fresh towels, nice size shower, lovely design of the room. Each room has a private terrace with table and benches, where they serve your breakfast between 8 and 10am. Breads, yogurt, eggs, fruit, juice - all fresh and tasty! Plenty of on-site, secure parking. Totally safe property - fully fenced and gated. If you're a dog person you'll enjoy having Lika around. The pool area is ideal for relaxing in the afternoons - loungers and some shade available. They also offer snacks, beer, cocktails and wine delivered to you at the pool or the rooms. Highly recommend!
